Bah humbug it's stinking arthritis!

Repeat after me:
There are worse things than arthritis!
There are worse things than arthritis!
There are worse things than arthritis!
Yep I found out today that I have stupid arthritis in my lower back and hips. Sure there are worse things, but you see I've had Fibromyalgia since 1989 and lower back pain due to a disc injury since 2003. And I've always told myself, "well at least it isn't arthritis." So I am mad at the world.
I guess I need to come up with a new one:
At least it's not ALS.
At least it's not muscular dystrophy.
At least my children don't have it.
At least world war three hasn't started.
Or maybe I'll try and think of something funny, but obviously I'm not one of those accept it and move on type of people. Bah humbug!

Arthritis really stinks. Yes there are worse things but it still hurts constantly, like a tooth ache. Just nagging. Maybe this will help, I have it in both knees, one hip, both ankles, my left femur midway, and my hands. It drives me crazy when the weather is cold! See it could be worse

My mom had it in just about every joint in her body and it very much made her life miserable, so sorry to hear that!

That's for sure!
I think it's partly genetic since mom had it, but also from the location (lower back and hips) I think there also a connection with my disc injury.

Mine came from a bad motorcycle accident. The first doctor wanted amputate my leg. Thank God they called in a second doctor who couldn't do it without at least trying to save the leg. It worked so I see the arthritis as minor when compared to the whole ordeal.

I am so sorry dawn that you have now been diagnosed with arthritis. I would have thought that the fibromyalgia was bad enough to bear. It is no comfort at all to you but we were never promised that life would be easy or fair, but we were promised eternal life if we confessed our sins, accepted the lord and tried to walk the talk. having just written that I am now concerned that i may have offended you and if so, then I apologise. It is just that I believe in the power of prayer - deep bare your heart prayer. It has always helped me through so many situations.
I have a friend with ALS and she has thrown away all doctor's medications - this was about 3 years ago when they told her husband she was dying because she was on a ventilator. she had mobility in 2 fingers and researched the net on her lap top. She b=never regained her power of speech but she can walk with a walker to the bathroom etc and after 18 months had a normal bowel action. Before that she had to have colonic irrigation. She lives on a natural food diet - no processed or cooked food at all. she has regained a lot of mobility in her arms too as well as legs. she is a fanatic over her raw food diet but it has proved to me that she is right and I wish that she had learned of it before as she has two sons. They are now in early teens but one was only 5 when she was diagnosed initially. I know that this does not make you feel better but it is worse than arthritis. Blessings dear friend

Actually ALS (as well as MS) is one of the things I think of when I'm doing my "it could be worse" routine. In the scheme of things, arthritis isn't so bad if you take care of it, and so far I have to say that my quality of life is 100% better than it was a year ago. I have a herniated disk and just finding a treatment for that has improved things immensely!

As a fellow arthritis sufferer I know what you mean. And since I have multiple forms of it, it can really mess me up. It seems like when one is in submission the other decide that it is their turn. But hey, it really could be worse. I guess you need to talk to your sister so she can find a lighter side of it.

My sister already informed that she's had it for years and that it's not that bad. I guess that was a pep talk! :-)

Another new "friend" to brighten up your golden years, and you have not quite reached your golden years yet. However think of all the wisdom you have accumulated. When I get on the "there is always someone worse off than me" I realize there is someone at the end of this line somewhere who is looking around and is not finding that worse off person than himself, and I do resent losing a few places in the "worse off" lineup. I do however realize that life is not fair sometimes but I just have to get on with it.
