Nowadays i see that desktops are starting to get old, almost all my friends switched to laptops, i don`t have one but i`m raising money to buy one next year. I think a laptop is very good, you can have it on you wherever you go, but the desktop is still good for most of the people who work at home, what do you use mostly, or what would you like to use mostly?

I started a similar discussion about twelve months ago. As a result I bought my laptop after Christmas last year for a good price. Now I use both. Actually, I will probably buy a new PC about March next year, as they are much faster and have a greater memory and storage than my six year old. I always have both running and wonder how I found my first computer ok with only a 2kg hard drive. How times change!

Sometimes I wished I had a laptop because it's so convient to take where ever I may go and now that they've invented portable internet well... how could anyone not be led into temptation that way lol
I've thought about buying a laptop as well but there are somethings that have stopped me from doing so.
Laptops are only one piece so if one thing goes on it and needs repairing such as the keyboard, or speakers, monitors, etc.. that could become a problem because then you have to bring in the whole device where on a desktop it's all made of separate pieces and if one thing goes on it and needs either to be tossed out or repaired it's only a part so it won't stop people from using their computers.
Have a great night

I usually use computer for playing games, so for me desktop is better than laptop. I think it is easier to play games on a desktop computer than laptop.

As for me, I usually go on travel and go everywhere. I prefer to have laptop since it is very portable anywhere you go. If I am bored in my house, I can go to coffee shop, mall or even in the airport which provided there is a hotspot or wifi connections. So, from time to time I could update it anything that needs to be updated when your in mobile. Since wireless router is very rampant today, provided in your house, you installed wireless router, you can to you kitchen, sala, veranda, garden and any part of the house you can continue browsing the internet without any interruption. In long the run, I prefer lap top.

Laptop is better for those who can not stay or sit at a single place to work. While desktop is a computer which can use only at its fixed place. I had a laptop. I used to use it even my bed but It damaged due to badly and careless handling. It was victimized by the virus and now I have only source to work and that is my desktop. But I think laptop is an expensive machine than desktop so Now I am using my desktop.

i guess it really depends on how your going to use it. if your a gamer and consume 80% of your PC time with games then i don't recommend a laptop. most games that will come out will be very graphics driven, so an upgrade to your hardware might be in need. but if your a casual user, internet stuffs and document creation, i guess laptop is a good way to go. it's portable, you can bring it anywhere you like to work, especially for people making blogs who need inspiration or something like that. plus is your going to sum up the cost of energy being consumed by a desktop and a laptop, laptop consumes 60% less than of a desktop (a guy from intel told us about that in a seminar with them, he even showed us how much you can save with a laptop)

When I need to stay long hours on the computer I prefer to use the deskotp. However if I need to use the computer in the kitchen or the living room I prefer to use the laptop because it offers portability while the desktop cannot.

I like both. My current laptop is like a desktop/laptop hybrid. I have a portable keyboard and mouse, along with a separate large monitor. i do a lot of graphic arts and the small screen of my laptop hurts my eyes.

I like to use desktops mostly. It has faster speeds than laptops. It can be upgraded to higher configurations. It cannot be stolen like laptops.Other multimedia devices like speakers, graphic cards and printers can be added to desktops.

i say desktops are betta but thier is 1 exception to my opinion and that is an alienware laptop im wanting that costs around 6 grand but i have a laptop and a desktop but all the laptops i know have had serious issues and very bad problems especially the newer ones like my acer aspire 5000 that i bought just a couple of years back it now just sits on a shelf and collects dust cause it has so many problems that frustrate me.

I only have a desktop. I always wanted a laptop but they are very expensive. My son says that they are no good and you can do so much more with a desktop. He says they crash more easily and are harder to fix. He is very wise about computers. So i really respect his advise. However, i still want a laptop and if i can ever afford to get one i will still have my desktop. I wish to have both. That way when im playing sims on the desktop i can still IM with friends and family on the laptop.
