Leaving The Lights On

I don't know why but it drives me crazy when my boyfriend leaves the lights on when they don't need to be. If I leave for work before he does then when I get home I am sure to find half the lights in the house are left on. If he goes in a room he turns on a light whether it needs to be or not. It can be very bright in a room but he still turns on the light. I don't know why this drives me crazy but it does. Does anyone else get frustrated over this?

I hate it when my husband leaves the lights on when he's not even in the room. On occasion, I'll do it, but I try to turn the light on when I leave the room. I'll say something to him about it, and he says he's sorry, but it doesn't always help.

I try saying something to him to but like you it doesn't help me most of the time. I guess I will keep on trying but who knows maybe someday he will finally remember to turn off a light!!!

He's not that bad. He does turn the lights off, but it's those times that he does forget that gets me. lol

i know what you mean. in my house we turn lights off when we're done. in my sister's house they leave lights on all night long.

I have never understood people that can leave lights on all night. When I go to bed I have to have everything turned off. It's not even about the money I'm saving (even though I like it!) it's just I sleep better knowing I have done it for some reason.

That is worth giving a try and seeing if it will work.

that inconsiderate. with prices being what they are i make sure every single light is off if its not in use. i unplug appliances that i dont use on a regular basis. he is just lazy and doesn't care. you should make a jar and every time he leaves a light on he has to put money in the jar. this way he gets in the habit of turning lights off and if he forgets at least you have some extra money to pay the electricity bill :)

I might have to try the money in a jar. That may help him remember to turn them off. Thanks for the idea.

Show him the electric bill. If that doesn't phase him then maybe you should make him pay for it

I tried showing him that we could save money by turning the lights off and he says he will try but he always ends up leaving them on. I don't know if it is just a habit or what.
