Where Would Baseball's Big Free Agents Go?

It's the start of the winter meetings and talk about free agents and where they would go is big talk right now. Lots of free agents are checking out offers from different teams and its interesting as to who would land where in anticipation of the 2009 season. CC Sabathia - he has his $140 million for 6 years offer from the Yankees, but word is that he prefers staying out West. Many teams are after him and are trying to get him to sign. Mark Teixeira - the big bat acquired by the Angels late last season and showed his value during the Angels' short stint in the postseason is expected to get big dollars. Manny Ramirez - Well, well. Manny hit more than .400 during his short stint with the Dodgers and even topped that with a .500+ batting average during the postseason, helping the Dodgers get through to the NLCS for the first time in 20 years. As he said, gas is up and so is he. Francisco "K-Rod" Rodriguez - The all-time saves leader who set the record with 62 saves last year is expecting somewhere around $15 per year for 5 years, money which is comparable to what the Yankees are paying Mariano Rivera. Would any team be willing to open their wallets for him? Other notable free agents are starting pitchers AJ Burnett and Derek Lowe. Any other names to add? Your thoughts on this matter are most welcome.

The Mets signed Francisco "K-Rod" Rodriguez to a $37 million/3 year contract so that is much better than he hoped for. They desperately need a closer and they got one of the best ones who had a record 62 saves last year. Yankees will go hard after CC Sabathia. If they don't get him, they will probably go after AJ Burnett and Derek Lowe. I think the Angels are interested in Manny Ramirez and I don't think he will be staying with the Dodgers. Teixeria might stay with the Angels or go to the Yankees. We shall see in the next few months.

I just got around to reading this information from Yahoo! sports a few minutes ago. Well, 37 for 3 years would roughly only be $12+ million per year, so that's lower than what his agent expected to land for K-Rod. Nonetheless, it's still big money for someone who comes in an inning per game to close things out [no offense meant, but I don't think its right to pay that much]. The Yankees seem to have to put out a really big offer to get consideration from the free agent market. I'm not sure, but that's just my thoughts.
