It is a known fact that it costs cell phone companies more to connect two phones.More often,we give missed calls to the opponent to save our money. To avoid this,if the cell phone companies think of removing caller id facilities, what will be the reactions world wide?I am not bothered about this, because I never give missed calls! Will the usage of cell phones come down?

The trend of the cell phone companies is that they are reducing the call rates. Now, it is cheaper than ever to own a cell phone (and pay for its connection). If they were at a loss for the abusing of missed calls, I don't think they would be reducing the call rates at this rate. I don't think that they are ever going to cut the Caller ID facility.

I do not give missed calls - so I am not worried. Also Cell Phone companies must be happy - because most of the missed calls are followed by a genuine call, and some of those follow-up calls last for appreciable length of time! Now if the world all of a sudden decides to communicate only via 'missed call' both ways then only companies will have some real reason to worry. Otherwise, it is perfect for them to allow missed calling!

Thankfully i am not one of them who give missed calls. However, it would be unfair for the telcos to withdraw the caller id facility as it helps alot before answering the calls. They may charge at a reduced rate to prevent the tendency. I think the usage of cell phones will not come down.
