i somehow can not sleep with the lights on. If the lights are on, i will keep tossing and keep waking up every now and then. i need to have total darkness in teh room to be albe to sleep soundly. havign the lights on while you sleep also maes it possible for people from outside to see you unless the curtains are drawn properly.
how do you sleep? With lights on or off?

I like to sleep in total darkness. I read this book called Lights Out that talks about how we were meant to sleep in total darkness, and if we don't, it disrupts our hormones and makes us fat and causes cancer and stuff. You can get it on amazon.

I prefer total darkness in my sleep, oblivion. Besides the fact that I hate the sun (the day, the light!), I actually believe that when one sleeps, oneĀ“s skin pores tend to stretch to widen because it rests and then unwanted effects of light would penetrate the skin (I know I read that somewhere). Besides, with the tiniest light on, flashing on my closed eyes, I get easily irritated.

I like the lights to be off but it doesn't need to be total darkness. I used to not being able to sleep if there are lights on in the other rooms but now I can. I had to because my sleeping times constantly changes because of the type of work I have.
I can never sleep though with the lights on within the room I'm in unless I am EXTREMELY tired.

I leave a light on in the house but not in the bedroom. My shade is always drawn so no one can ever see in anyway. I don't like the whole house to be dark because if I get up in the night I don't want to be bumping into things or tripping over shoes, which are always lying around.

Though I am not as sensitive to light as you do when sleeping, yet I still prefer the darkness sleep. One of my colleague is very sensitive to the light when sleeping. He has to wear a eyeshade during the nap at noon or else he can sleep at all. I believe many people has this habit, that's why the eyeshade is so prevalent.

when my husband is out of home, I will sleep with the lights on. If he is at home, we will keep the lights off, after all, the darkness will help our sleep quality.
