Im pregnant right now and im worried about my figure, before im only weighing 118 pounds but now over 170 pounds. When im still single i used to go to the gym everyday and i never fail to follow my own diet.I have descipline when it comes to the food i eat.. but this time,im thinking if i can do those thing i used to do before, because being a mother is the most hardest thing to do, and especially on my case, i dont have nanny at my home,so i think i dont have time to go to the gym and im worried about my weight after birth, because on our family side, were really have a chubby genes, not like other genes that even they ate a lot, they stay slender or slim. What about you???

I had gained alot of weight during each of my pregnancies. After the birth I started slowly getting back into a routine and diet. Actualy having the babies helped me exercise more. Taking daily walks with the baby in the stroller, doing exercises with the baby (I think they now have videos on how to do this. Kinda neat and fun and doesnt feel like exercise but playtime. I think you will do just fine in getting back to your desired weight. Keep in mind though it took 9 months to gain the baby wieght, so its going to take some time getting it back off...but is well worth it. Good luck and congrats on the new baby!

I have had 6 children and, to be perfectly honest, have never had to worry about dieting or my weight. Up to my third child I weighed between 48 - 50kgs after birth. Now I'm hovering at around 60kgs which, I suppose, is about right for my height which is 5'3". I have a pretty fast metabolic rate, which means I can pretty much eat anything and it will fall off. Guess I'm lucky. Not sure. I have always kept myself active and am always on my feet so I guess that helps. Keep moving, after you have baby. You really don't need to go to the gym. There are plenty of ways to exercise at home. Why you might even think up a few new ways to keep fit and active.

well, that's the price of being a family woman and having your first baby. It's well worth the bloating and disfigurement. After the delivery of your baby you can resume your gym whenever possible. When you see your baby, you will forget how you look, really. So don't fret. I guess with lots of determination, you can return back to your 'ideal' figure, until the next baby. Congratulations.

I have been told that thats is alot of weight to put on with a pregnancy. I think the rule of thumb is to gain the average weight of the baby which is 6 to 8 lbs, unless the baby is really big or there are twins. And another 10 lbs. or so for the placenta and fluids. At best 20 to 25 lbs is norml. You seem to have put on 52 lbs and it will be harder for you to get your figue back. There are many things you can do at home to work your body, after the birth. I used to be a dancer, professional with a troop in Hollywood and I can tell you it's a fun way to work the body without just doing exercise, which I hate. You can get a DVD teaching you simple belly dancing moves that work the whole body. Great exercise and fun too. Your Doctor should help yu with this as well.

I was slim when I got pregnant and slimmed down quickly afterward, but you're right, it is somewhat genetic. My own mom was very slim after having three kids. If you are already good with your diet and exercise, then it won't be too difficult for you to get back into shape again. Just follow your doctor's advice on the appropriate amount of weight you need to gain; you don't want to eat too little or the baby's health may suffer. Maybe you should get some workout videos to follow at home to keep you toned up. There are things you can do with your baby to get exercise--take her for a stroll on nice days or push her around the mall when the weather won't cooperate. Just the daily routines of taking care of a baby will keep you hopping! I also remember seeing exercise programs where the mother sort of uses the baby as a weight for gentle toning exercises. And best wishes!

I was 31 when i got pregnant with my son an only child. I fortunately had a lot of morning sickness therefore didn't gain more than 25lbs which was the minimum weight that my doctor said a mother would be healthy at. It was all good so just hang in there. Doesn't always mean the worst.

I can empathize with your concern. When I was pregnant with my first daughter, I weighed 117 pounds. When I went into the hospital to have her I weighted 190. After she was born I committed myself to eating half portions of everything. Just taking care of an infant is alot of excersise and after 1 year I had lost 76 pounds. Just being concerned is a good start, I think you'll do great!

Pregnancy is the time to relax and enjoy all the pampering from others. This is not the time to worry about your figure. You need to worry for your baby. After the delivery you can regain your figure by following proper diet and excercises that too only after you have consulted a doctor whether it is safe to begin excercises. Enjoy your pregnancy. This is the time when you can have others to do things for you. Eat healthy. Go for walks. From your discussion its not clear how many months pregnant you are. Please consult your doctor before you start any excercises. You can do all excercises after safe delivery. Please don't go to any gym right now it can harm your baby. You can go for moderate excercises that too only after confirmation from your doctor. Do Excerise but not for the reason to maintain your figure. Having a healthy baby is what you should think of now.

I gained weight with my first two pregnancies but with this last one I have lost alot of my weight. You can still go to the gym because alot of gyms have nurseries or play areas for kids while the parents work out and with many of them it is included in your membership.
