With our current economy, I think it is becoming more acceptable to shop at secondhand stores and outlets for gifts. Secondhand shopping provides affordable stuff for your family, but also appeals to people who have money to spend (I think a few are still around) but are environmentally friendly.
I love secondhand stuff, in fact I have a small home business dealing in it, and it would not bother me at all to receive a gift that was used but that the giver knew I would love. Vintage stuff is so quaint and fun! And often more durable, unlike today's mass produced junk. And I like that I am not adding the the landfills with all that new packaging; I always feel sorry for the trash collectors the week after Christmas! I will give used items as gifts if they are in excellent condition or somehow unique.
So, do you make a practice of buying secondhand gifts, and why? If not, how do you feel about receiving them?

I've never thought about buying secondhand gifts for Christmas. It never truly occurred to me before. Yet, this year the money is very tight. This is something I am sure I can do. As for receiving them, I don't mind at all. Sometimes the best stuff is secondhand, and besides, it's the thought that counts, right?
