Yes, I thought about that when I was pregnant. My son, born 4 years ago, was due in mid September and I really didn't want his birthday to be 9-11. I wouldn't say I worried about it, but I thought about it and hoped for any other day. I really hoped for his due date because it was the 17th. I was born on the 17 of January and my husband's favorite number is 17 so I thought it would be perfect. He came on the 9th.

This made me laugh. When I was pregnant with my daughter, she was due June of 2006. I was SO scared I'd go into labor on June 6, 2006 (6-6-06). Luckily I had her June 1st but I was SO scared about that!

That's a question which will only concern me years after today. This is simply because I haven't married until now. I hope by the time my baby is going to be born, every thing will be smooth. Bottom line is my wife and my baby are safe. I think usually the parents will be more worried especially when it's the first delivery. Well, your friend is giving birth to baby on 1st of April. Then her son or daughter will celebrate birthday on April Fool Day every year.

well, what matters is the baby is healthy and strong.
It really doesn't matter much which day exactly.
As long as the baby comes out when it is due, it is fine.
What matters most is the baby is healthy!
So your friend is worrying for no reason at all.
So what if the baby is borned on the first of April?
It is still another day like any other.
Afraid of the baby being called an April's fool?
Silly girl... no worries at all. It is just a day people chose to play pranks.

Really? When women are pregnant they become silly?
Or is it a case of too much time on hand, mind starts to wander?
I guess each individual is unique in the way they handle their thoughts. Especially when the woman is pregnant.
With more time on their hands during maternity leave, it is no wonder they start to think up things to while their time away.

Hi youless, for me I did not bother much about the date of my baby born during those younger days. I like the first of April for it is the April Fools’ Day. It’s quite easy to remember the baby’s birthday, right? I don’t think the baby born on April Fools’ Day would be a real big fool Of course I understand no one would like their baby to be called an April Fool and I realize that’s why your friend worry so much about this.
Many Chinese people in my place don’t like to have baby born in the seventh month of the Chinese lunar calendar, the ghost festival, as they believe that baby born in this month is mischievous and would bring much trouble to the family as they believe that the baby might be born with the spirit soul. People usually would call baby born in this month “Big Head Kid”. This is believed that the door of the ghost city is wide open during the ghost festival month and all the ghost living inside would come out and roaming all around freely and it might go into the baby before delivery.
Take care and posting.

Perhaps the young people will have a different opinion. I really don't know that the baby who was born in that month would be called "big head kid". If the birthday isn't something sounds terrible like April Fool, it's OK. I learned something new from you. What a surprise

My cousin's expected due date is also 31 March this year, she told me hopefully the baby will not be born in April Fool too. I am not sure if she is worrying or she is just joking with it. Does your friend really worry about it? Well, sometimes pregnant women do have many worries, perhaps she is afraid the kid will be laughed by others? But I really think it's fine to have the birthday on 1st April.

Actually I did worry with both of my pregnancies that my boys would be born on my birthday. Even though it wouldn't have been the worst thing in the world I wanted them to have their own special days, and not have to share them with mom.
One of my cousin's is actually born on April 1st. Though I didn't believe him at first when he told me. I thought he was playing an April fool's prank! LOL
I feel for your friend. Just think if she went into labor on April 1st and no one believed her! That wouldn't be too fun for her, now would it?

More and more Chinese younger love foreign festivals.
I bet there are a few elders know this fool's day in China.
Of course I know some parents care about this information.
Maybe your friend can select Caesarean birth avoiding this day.

I experienced the same thing as your friend. I was worried if any time my baby will be born prior to the due date. That's a normal feeling to pregnant women.

hello youless!
nope, i don't worry. i am expecting in the end of March 2009 too. more than worry, i am very excited. i guess because much of the excitement comes from waiting for the baby for quite some time to be given to us by God. And now that I am pregnant, I am just happy! :-)
anyway, well, we cannot really choose birthdays. even if the baby is delivered in caesarian section, it is still the Lord's will that brings that. so whenever the baby comes, we will welcome him or her with open arms (we still don't know the gender of the baby)
take care and God bless you!
merry christmas!

I had a friend in school who's brother was born on april 1 and it did cause him some grief.
I am not sure many put too much emphasis on "april fools day" anymore... but I will share that I was secretly relieved when our baby was born on the 2nd of april and not the first.

Huh she does not want an april fool baby! If she really delivers on that day, people will think twice when she sends out invitation for her child birthday parties in future as people may think it is a prank. So ask her to choose her delivery date by going for C-section.

When i was pregnant... i was never worried when my daughter was going to be born... in fact... i half wished we will have the same birthday... but then she came three days after that... but i am just glad she was born with no complications because she was already like 4 days overdue inside my tummy...

Hello youless. I can see that your friend doesn't want her baby to be born on that day because of it is April Fool's Day, which is funny of her to worry about this. As a matter of fact, there is nothing to worry about. It is nothing but a holiday. So what? Please tell her to forget about it as it doesn't matter. Good day to youless.

Its no big deal. I know two people born on that day. They don't care. What are the odds of that happening anyways.
