My new Job

I started a new job last week. After months of looking, I was glad to finally find one. In addition to the current economy problems, it's not easy when you've taken so much time off due to a family members illness, but thankfully I was hired. At the end of last week we went thru orientation and training so we could get started on Monday of this week. I have to laugh because my new job matches some of my online activities. I typically steer away from paid survey sites since I rarely qualify for them after answering the initial questions, but now I'm getting paid to GIVE the surveys. It's a new project for the company I'm working for, so the first day was spent finding the bugs in the system so they could fix the problems. Worked for me since I have great analyzing and problem solving skills, but our team found so many that they wouldn't even let us log in yesterday. Since we couldn't actually work while we waited, they allowed us to play video games during the down time. Can you believe it? I got paid to play video games at work! By the time they released us to go home a few hours later, I had already racked up an additional 1500 tokens on my Pogo account! If you have downtime in your job, what tasks are you approved to do while you wait?

Job? What job? I used to work for a survey company and actually put in three days there last week as a favor. Reminded me why I didn't like working there after the manager changed...

Oh Dear! Was it really that bad? I know it's been a rocky start for the company I'm working with, but do tell me more... What was it you didn't like about it besides the manager?

When I first started there, we had a very nice and efficient manager, but she wanted to take some time off, so one of the other surveyors became manager, and became quite the martinet. Then, when the first manager was ready to come back to work, she wouldn't relinquish her position and really treated the first manager like an idiot who didn't know what she was doing. In reality, this second boss is the idiot and dithers and dithers and dithers and makes things stressful all around. Only two of the women who worked there when I did are still working there now. One has another job as well as this one, and the other is semi-retired. As for downtime, it's a part-time casual deal. If there's no work, no one works.

Congratulations on the new job Lynn - your perseverance has paid off! Sounds like a cool company to work for, letting you play video games when you weren't able to work! Most places would find some other type of work for you to do. At least you made good use of the time, racking up some extra tokens on your Pogo account!

LOL, it was so slow last night that I gained an additional 12,000 tokens and that was after losing 1500 of them on the Ali Baba slots game. Playing games is fun and all, but I would actually prefer it if they find me something I could do to really earn my paycheck. I have work-a-holic tendencies and would prefer actually doing something challenging instead of just playing games.

At my current "new" position, I will be able to bring my laptop and use it if I like for four days a week. I can possibly bring it on the fifth, but it is not a situation that is conducive to using it. I finally got to train on that position today, and I spent a lot of time interacting all day. Now if I get the newer new position I have applied for, I will be too busy to do anything like that.

I would definately prefer having more work to do than less, but at least it's bringing a little extra in since hubby got laid off. Glad to hear you're doing well with your cross training.

Thanks! We can really use the extra income after hubby got laidoff almost 2 months ago. Talk about a bad way to finish up this year...

Hello and welcome to MyLot bliveinurself! I was quite happy to find it after taking off a few years when my grandmother was diagnosed with stage 4 colin cancer. Unfortunately, having a big gap in your resume like that makes most companies just flip to the next applicant. I'm just glad I still have a few "get paid sites" to help bring in a little extra as this job pays considerably less than my last job did. Guess it's better than nothing though.

Wow, that's hilarious! I would love to play video games while at work, since I"m a hard core gamer. How did you find this job? Sounds too good to be true! I'm quite happy for you. Your success will definitely encourage others to find their own goals. Congratulations and keep it up! On a side note, I also don't qualify for a lot of the surveys that I attempt to do. I have gotten paid for some. Now I mostly due surveys for GlobalTestMarket and SendEarnings. I find that most of the surveys in GlobalTestMarket you do qualify for, so that's good.

I envy you, it is good that you have a great problem solving skills. Your advantage is you don't have to ask for help of people around because you can solve that on your own. I wish I could too. You know sometimes I became genious when I have a complete 8 hours of sleep and vitamins. Congratulations to you and I hope you can help me with some of my problems too.
