Getting a New Laptop

I need to find someone that has a Compaq Presario 17" wide screen.
The one I will be getting for Christmas will have:
Intel Pentium Dual-Core T2390 (1.86GHz)
2.48 system memory
160 GB hard drive
LightScribe SuperMulti 8x DVD +/_R/RW double layer drive
I don't know what software that will be loaded in it as it will be a gift for Christmas and the person that is giving it to me is trying to keep it a surprise. I don't like surprises...lol. I don't have the model number to it either so I wouldn't know what model to look at on the net.
I need to know what you think of this model. What it is pre-loaded with, does it have WiFi capabilities, does it have a web cam, and anything else that I may not know that it has.

its a gud notebook . yes there is wi-fi & webcam facilities in it.u should install windows vista in it.Ms-Dos is aleady install in it.if u wanna used it all feature so u just install windows vista ohterwise windows XP vil also woek in it.

I've heard so many things about windows vista, all not good. I have a friend that has vista on her laptop and it's not all the impressive. I'm use to windows xp and I think that I will stick to that.
What would be the better software for virus protection? McAfee or Norton?

Mcafee & Norton both r gud antivirus bt according to my knowledge mcafee slows the system performnace compare of norton so i would be recommend to use NORTON Antivirus .

well take my personal advice and dont ever go for a compaq laptop. i did the mistake and i am still feeling the pain. i took this new laptop of compaq v3000. it worked fine for 3 months and then its display was out. i gave it to the service center as it was under warranty and they said the motherboard has to be replaced. well so early and the motherboard has to be replaced. ok, i went with that as i had no other choice. then it worked again fine for 6 months and then it gave the same problem. i went to the service center and they again replaced the motherboard. yes this was the 2nd one. and guess what it lasted only 3 hours. now it is in the service center and they are waiting for the part to come for more than 15days now.
so take my advice go for any other brand.

my dear friend listen may be there is any technical problem in ur laptop's motherboard other wise compaq is a gud brand .In electronic items these types of problems has not a big problem . If u cant trust so u can ask anyohter person who has compaq laptop ,did he face these type of any problem related his motherboard.
