The billions of people in our world has a vast number of languages to express their mind. With the ongoing globalism,we are required to learn different languages other than our mother tongue to express ourselves in front of others. What is the maximum number of languages that you can speak ?? I have only 4 in my account as English, Hindi, Sanskrit & oriya as my mother tongue....

Well, personally I agree with You, the more languages You speak and/or know, the better it is and the more easy it is for You to find jobs.

English is my first language and Mandarin is my mother tongue language. Other than English and Mandarin, I also speak one Chinese dialect. It's Hokkien. I am not fluent in Hokkien though.
I've learned Spanish before and am thinking of continuing it.
Currently I am learning Japanese. I just had my Elementary 1 test. I hope to keep continuing as I love Japanese language.

I wish I could speak 10 languages but then I am equipped with only three at the moment. The first one is Bahasa Malaysia or Malay as this is my mother tongue. This is the first language that I learned to speak and write with. It is also the national language of my country.
The second language is English. I started to learn this when I went to my kindergarten many decades ago. This has now become my major language at work and for communication with other people and friends from many parts of the world. Even my blog is fully written in English and myLot has given me the opportunity to further improve my English.
The last language that I learned is Bahasa Indonesia or Indonesian. This is due to the fact that I am married to an Indonesian and therefore, it is natural for me to pick up the language as well as I have to use it whenever we go back for holidays in Indonesia. The language is almost similar to Malay and therefore, i do not have any difficulty in learning it. I started about 2 years ago and now I can go to Indonesia and speak to anyone there with confidence and most of them would not be able to tell that I am not an Indonesian...
I would love to learn more but somehow I feel that my brain is no longer accepting any new language...

My mothertongue is Dutch, and as it's a language almost no one knows lol, languages are important in our education. From middle school onwards, we learn French, in high school still French and start English, in 3th year you also get German and in 5th and 6th year, you can choose German and Spanish (and still French and English for every one). I chose German, so I can speak, understand and read and write those 4 very good (Dutch, French, English and German). From going on holiday to Italy a lot, I can understand and speak a little Italian, the basic touristic things, and some Spanish too. I like languages a lot, am studying English and Dutch literature and linguistics now in university. I've got an ear for it, I'm always intrigued when I hear a foreign language, I try to guess what it is, and if I can understand some thing of it :-)
You're right, due to the ongoing globalism, it's really a plus if you know foreign languages! It's also great to know other cultures!
