I would say Chinese or Japenese is really hard to learn. I give Chinese up after one day. I think English is the easist so I think everyone who is from another country should be patient with English speaking as it is easy for them to learn this language than for us to learn theirs. Zulu. That does sound hard to learn. Not that I have even seen or maybe heard it but I bet it is hard. The hardest language in the worls apparently to learn is the Phillipino language. I have heard this a few times.

I was told that English was the hardest to learn because it has so many words that are said the same but are spelt and mean different thinks. Or are spelt the same but mean different things like "groom" is a man getting married and when you groom yourself such as doing make-up, cleaning yourself up, etc. "Back" is your back, part of your body or to move back. "Live" as in you live your life or a live band. "For" can be I live for chocolate or the number 4. "To" has 3, I go to the shops, I love you dogs too and the number 2. As so on.

I think those who only contact several languages have no qualification to answer this question. How many kinds languages in the world? Maybe only a linguist can answer this question. Do u agree with me?

From my experiences, the Chinese and Japanese language are so hard to learn. You have to memorize the thousands of characters with each strokes.

IMHO, the language of the heart. Any other language we can get away with hand and body gestures but to understand another human being is diffcult if he or she will not speak the language you understand.

there was a survey made, and the result was, Chinese. Chinese was chosen by many people due to reasons of its writing system - differnt word has differnt symbol. also to include is its tone system, where its hard to be pronounced. in their later survey, Arabic, and Japanese are amongst the hardest language based on the same reasons. Chinse language still dominate first-to-second place. anyways, i only learned so far 3 language. my natural language is Malay. then i learnt English and Arabic. comparing English and Arabic, i would say English is harder for reasons. one reasong is the same as SuzyLong. other is because its my second language. besides, English has so many words that i sometimes get confused. by the way, its maybe comes from the fact that diffent brains has diffrn ablity to understnd something. :)

I suppose its the Indian language 'Sanskirt', known as the origin of all the other languages in the world. You probably dont know about this language. You may also find more info about Sanskirt at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanskrit
