If you had to could you take a vow of silence for 48 hours ?

I could as long as you don’t count talking to oneself which I do with worrying frequency. Does talking to the animals count? Although everyone asking “what’s wrong?” might be irritating.I guess i could say I'm in a State Of Oblivion.. Here's some Brownies while you are posting since I'm buying my way to Queenhood...

Hang on..... So I can't talk for 48 hours but I DO have brownies freely available? Hmmm. I could do it if I had an unlimited supply of brownies I reckon!

Holds the plate out and politely backs away after planting a sweet chocolate kiss on James's forehead...

Hmmm nice brownies. I would love the recipe except I am on a diet. Oh dear. What was I saying. Oh yes the path to Queenhood such an interesting path to follow. I doubt if I could stay silent for 48 hours but I could try. It would mean not talking to the dog or the chickens ah now we have problems unless someone else called them to their food. I am just not sure as there is so much that needs to be communicated in that time period.

I could, but only if I were on a remote island and no one knew I was there. There is always something going on in my house that requires me speaking to SOMEONE. When I don't talk much, my son is always asking if I am ok. He thinks because I don't feel like talking that I am being grumpy or something*L*

Wow, we are an awful lot alike. Murder and child abuse are on the top of my list. But, the other two you mentioned are things that annoy me every day. I can't stand for someone to be at a service counter, making the rest of the line wait, because THEY think it is more important to be on the phone. Get the hell out of line and get back in it when you are finished with your conversation. I do not like having my teeth rattled by someone else's music while driving down the road, or any other time, actually. I want to be able to hear my own choice of music, not something someone, who is obviously deaf and doesn't realize it, yet, decides he/she is going to share with the world.

awww thats the hardest thing u can ever do.... imagine cant pick up the phone wen the phone rings.... or talk to ur frens or anyone in particular.. its sooo gonna be difficult.. i read somewhere that a teacher organised a game where each student had to pretend to be handicapped in some way for one day.. and poor ppl .. thhat was hard.. but it was to teach them how hard it is for handicapped ppl to be like that forever.. and they couldnt handle it for one day..

If I lived on my own it would not be difficult for me to take a silence vow of 48 hours. I would save my voice. I would prefer talking to dogs. They understand you much easier than humans and there is no need for verbal communications. Non verbal cues would do the trick.

I could easily take a vow of silence for 48 hours! lol I don't ever really talk as it is and i don't even feel like talking a lot of time. it's like i don't even feel like opening my mouth lol so not talking for 48 hours would be easy for me to do. of course it would get annoying with people asking whats wrong and all that stuff and since i couldn't talk i'd have to write it out for them on paper lol

I'm not a talker but it would still be difficult. Couldn't get away with it at work, would have to try at home, but I can't see the kids letting me get away with it, not to mention not talking to the cats!

I'm super stressed and miserable lately! Get those brownies here please! I don't think that I could keep quiet for 48 hours! I also talk to myself! And I always talk to my babies! If I didn't answer them they would get very upset and Luna would never be quiet! He would keep screaming until I answered him! So, nope that would never happen! So, now that I answered you discussion can I PLEASE have my brownie????? Opalkitty said PLEASE!!! MEOW! PURRRRR!!!

Yeah I could be silent for forty eight hours easily. I was in a boot camp when I was sixteen years old and I couldn't really talk or interact with anybody. Everyday was basically exactly the same as the last for two months straight. It's not that big of a deal to be silent because when you aren't interacting with others you do a lot of self searching within yourself. I would actually recommend isolation every once in a while to refind yourself if you get lost.

When I was a college student I spent about two weeks on a remote island as a part of my project. Went there with my boyfriend but it was too rocky and sunny for him. So, he left with a fisherman and I spent the rest of the time all alone. It was really something! The thing is that you don't really miss the talking part...it's so nice listening to the waves, the wind and the sea gulls. I think it has to do with the enviroment. Of cource fishermen came by day by day but sea people dont talk much...just wave;) Generally I like being silent. Helps me relax and focus on myself.. ...yumm...

I do not think I could be absolutely silent for a long span due to my state in life as a mother. however, I could cut out all unnecessary speaking... I like to do this during somber times such as the lenten season.... but especially on Good Friday.

I think I could easily take a vow of silence if my husband and son were away. I'm quite happy to think my internal thoughts and not say anything - in fact, during the day when I'm here by myself it's pretty silent. I do say a few things to the birds occasionally, but other than that, silence would be easy. Actually, the lads are pretty quiet too - so it's not a wild gaggle of conversation even when they are home!

Can I do it? I don't know. so, I'm gonna try it! Except for work, where my job is to talk to people so I can't be silent there. Oh man, my kids and my honey are gonna get thrown for a loop on this one. *grins* but then, they're used to me doing weird stuff anyway. Once a while back, for one entire week, I pretended to be someone else. *grins* They finally got used to me being someone else and then I was me again. Ironic thing is, when I was pretending to be somebody else, the kids were better behaved! *laughs*
