I live in a family full of dentists and dental assistants. From what i hear, assistants who work for younger dentists are often mistreated. Anyone I know who has worked for an older, more experience dentist (especially one that owned their practice) has had a much better experience than those working for hotshots straight out of dental school.

Thank you for your response... I worked as a dental assistant/surgical assistant for 20 years.. go times and stressed times.. you are absolutely right... I worked for an old school dentist who believed in the the old ways of helping patients and he was so gentle and understanding.. the $ was a plus for him.. and alot of times he would'nt even charge for things a dentist right out of school would definetely charge a fee for... also he did not believe in letting the insurance companies dictate to him how and what tx he would provide.
(I am now working for the Veterans Healthcare administration as a health technician because I got dental burnout looking for another employer to fill his shoes when he retired and it just wasn't happening..)
Thanks again.
