Nightmare like we all know is a bad dream ranging from dreaming of seeing ghost to seeing the world dying. some people who belive in God and Satan say nightmare is the game of Satan. others say its our mind game where when we are really tired or we think a lot about bad things before goin to sleep, our mind will make us dream bad things. besides that, there are some people saying that, nightmare is the symbol of bad things going to happen or it will happen the way we dreamt it.
what would you say.? is nightmare is a sign of bad things going to happen? or it just our mind playing with us.? or maybe the Satan.? or anything else.? share with me. :)

Nightmares, and dreams generally, are our subconscious minds trying to make sense of the daily input our minds are subjected to, and the concerns we have with our lives. Nothing more, nothing less.

based on my own experience i believe that dreams are the manifestion of what's in our subconscious mind. like you said, 'mind game.' so whatever you have been preoccupied with, you will often times dream about it. so if you've been happy and feeling great you will have sweet dreams. if you've been stressed out or worrying about things, you will have bad dreams or nightmares.
i have also heard that sometimes certain dreams can be like a warning for us but i have never experienced it, and i don't know how to interprete dreams. so to me dreams are just that... dreams! not a reality. but it would be nice if we would always have sweet dreams and no nightmares. wishing you a sweet dream tonight

I agree. I rarely dream, or remember them anyway. If I am under a lot of stress and have some consecutive rough days, I will have a bad dream. I think it also has to do with how deep we sleep. I am usually a deep sleeper but not when I'm stressed. I think that's why I remember the bad dreams.

I would agree. When I dream nightmare or just a dream when I really sit and think about it, it always seems to have something to my day or week, stressful or un-stressful.

It has nothing to do with the imaginary creature called Satan. It could have something to do with what you ate that day, an upset stomach or your subconscious worrying about something you have not resolved.
When I am stressed or worried about things I have night mares. If I am lucky the nightmare contains a clue to cure the problem. Mostly it is just a reflection of my stress.

In the unconscious world, a lot of things seemed to be beyond our control. I have tried to change things in my dreams and occasionally it worked. It relies on one's will and determination while in the unconscious state. If you always live your life telling yourself that you will be able to change things by your actions powered by your will. You are likely to occasionally control what happens in your dream. I have tried and when it works, I will be exhausted the following day. Maybe it is just me but I do enjoy what I do in my dreams because that is really a world I create.

It all depends on individual, your beleive and faith. Some people experience nightmare as a result of the days activity, mental state and other related problems while some experience nightmare as a result of their beleive. As far as i am concern, when i have nightmare,it has no implication whatsoever.

The most publicised (I think) is the one talked about in psychology books. The basic ideology is dreams come from the subconscious. The nice dreams from our desire to experience something which we may not have had the chance to feel or enjoy. Nightmares are caused or derived from our fears which we have been keeping to ourselves.
Islam divides dreams into three categories. Dreams that come from our own self, dreams that come from satan, and dreams that come from God. Nightmares or any bad dreams come from satan, partly to make us live in fear and fill our minds with uncertainties.
all the best,
