Well, I would say Ganguly is one of the best. I think he have proved a lot in ODI matches than in test matches. His test record is only up to average and its not that impressive. But, he is a good one day batsman. Also a useful part time medium pace bowler. I think Ganguly cannot be recognized as the best cricketer all over the world, although he can be recognized as one of the best when it comes to one day International matches. He have 10 thousand + runs in ODI's and made about 22 centuries and I think he is one of the great player in odi matches and one of the good player in test matches. (There is a difference between great and good )

Gangully was perhaps the the most effortless offside player, but he certainly cannot be considered as the best cricketers. Consistency is the hallmark of great cricketers, Focus & hard work leads them to that. However in gangully's case it seemed that reverse motivation only worked . He performed good only when odds or the public opinion was against him. A test average of low 40's that too when you played mostly in batting friendly conditions does not make one the best cricketer. There is no denying the fact that he was an immensely gifted cricketer who gave the cricket lovers many memorable moments.
