Do you recycle gifts?

Have you ever received a gift which is not to your liking? How did you feel? Or receiving several gifts of the same kind, for example, bags or purses?
If so, what did you do to them? Do you keep them for future use or do you resort to giving them as gifts to other people, too?
Just asking.

Yes I do...I once believed that I should not give away gifts from my friends...however, I realised that most of the things that me and my wife received are either things that we do not use or need. Most of those that will be left to expire or collect dust are better off given away to someone else that may be find some use for it. It would be a waste of resources just by keeping them and throwing it away years later.

Just as I've mentioned earlier, I personally recycle gifts I receive which I think aren't going to be useful in the household to avoid getting much clutter; but I do appreciate every single thing I have been given.

Hi there, mykmari.
No, i don't ever recycle gifts. the person who gives me the gift must have thought I'd like it. I'd feel bad about giving it away to someone else. I'm extremely sentimental, and I keep everything that people give me. (I still have "love notes" from a boy in the eighth grade, and I'm now 28 years old)
I think about how I would feel if someone gave away something I painstakingly picked out for them, and it makes me want the present even more. I love people, and I love that they try... even if they don't always hit the mark.

Oh I guess you do have plenty of presents tucked away in one or a couple of your cabinets. Sometimes, I also do get sentimental so I tend to keep some memorabilias in my closet like cards with meaningful messages which were given by friends whom I have not seen for quite a long time now.

Hi mykmari, Yes I do recycle gifts! I know it's not really
nice to do, but I have done it in the past. If I get a gift
that I know I am not going to use or I really don't care
for then I will try to find someone else that I think that
it is more suitable for. I won't give it to someone unless
I feel that is something that they can use or that they might
really like. I don't think that there is anything wrong with
doing that as long as it isn't done in a tacky way.

Just like you friend, I also do the same thing because I'm trying to be clutter free as much as I can. I see nothing wrong with recycling gifts, too. Thanks so much for sharing your views and often responding to discussions I've created. Happy holidays!
