currently, intel's processors are better off.amd's cpu may be of interesting to those users who want to get a processor really cheap, but ready to put up with low overclocking potential, low performance and high power consumption.

I've heard a lot about gamers liking AMD. The processor instruction sets that come with AMD processors are created specifically with gaming in mind. I think one of the instruction sets is 3DNow, I don't know if you've ever heard of that. Anyway, I'm not into it myself but I thought I would share this very limited knowledge! Andrew

I shall say AMD is the best because intel processors can withstand high temparatures but AMD can't and intel can not support high graphics unless accompnied by the graphic card it is konwn fact that AMD on board graphics are high than intel's on board graphics so just use AMD for gamming

I'm afraid you're just getting a lot of responses from people who don't know computers that well. AMD and Intel are both brands that make many processors at various speeds so one "brand" isn't just better than the other. I'll give you a list of processors from best to worst to help you out.
Intel Core 2 Quad
AMD Phenom X4
Intel Core 2 Duo
AMD Athlon X2
Intel Pentium D
Intel supposedly has a new i7 processor that's faster than anything out so far, but I haven't read much on it yet. Aside from that if you're thinking about a processor and it's not in my list, it's slower than those listed and not good for playing modern games.

The Core 2 Duo series and the new i7 series of processors blow anything AMD has to offer to pieces. AMD was serious competition to Intel a few years ago but at the moment Intel rules the market. AMD has a lot of catching up to do. Luckily since they have acquired ATI their future chipsets should incorporate more features for gaming.

For gaming AMD is better than INTEL if you see the system requirements of some games it is written there that if you have an AMD then you will need a bit less clock rate CPU for example if the recommended requirement for INTEL is "2.4 GHz Core2Duo" then the recommended requirement for AMD can be 2.0 GHz or 2.2GHz dual core processor.
