it was originally decided the show would end at 7 seasons but they are talking about extending it to 9 now for whatever reason!! they just have to make it official with all the paperwork and etc and its a go!!
im kind of glad because this is my first season and im watching it because of jacksons character (gale harold) and if he is going to be on there awhile i dont want the show to end soon!! what do you guys think? is it a good move or are you afraid the show might be old and tired by then??

Well, the show has been entertaining so far.
I have watch almost every episode of all the four seasons.
The fourth season is still airing on TV. So, it will be a while before I can finish the season.
They are going to go for 9 seasons?
That sounds good if they can keep up the current levels of comedy and story telling.
It is always interesting to see the antics these desperate housewives are up to.
Woo Hoo... five more seasons to go.
darn it, if only they have the bouncing emoticon to really show my excitement over this announcement!

Yeah... about the picture. I posted it in another discussion. And made sure it was loaded into the thread before I started on the reply to this one.
Then when I sent, it got tagged here instead. And removed from the previous discussion I was responding to.
Weird!
You are already watching SEASON 5?!?
No wonder the local video store had the whole box set before the show was even half way thru the season on TV!
Even cable is showing only season 4!
Sigh... always slower than the west when it comes to watching serials!

I just love this series although I'm still in my 20s. Everytime when I think there won't be any mystery appears in the next episode after the last mystery finishes. But they just keep giving more surprises. And they talk about lots of issues like relationships, love and family. I know they all sounds usual. But with their act and gut I just want more and more. And I really feel juicier about the newest season. Either they make up more issues and mysteries about those characters or just let their life go smoothly like the daily life of ours.

yeah every show has to have a couple that the audience loves being together and then they mess with them so we are always routing for them to either get back together or stay together

About the sudden split of Mike and Susan. I think it's all because they have to come up with a new tense scenario like the fire in the pub and the new character of Edie's husband (sorry I forget his name). Because that accident damaged this man's happy family and himself. He would begin to plan on his revenge. That's where the juice appears. Screenwriter just loves to split the couple which audience usually love to see together. I can accept the split because I know this kind of issue could happen in real life. So why not start to learn from the characters' experience and how they are going to cure themselves. I think the good side about the new season is everyone becomes stronger and connects with each other tighter. Like the Scavo family and Gaby.

I used to like it but I can't stand it now, there is just too much craziness and stupidity going on now, it is a night time soap opera.

I'm glad to hear that! I really do enjoy the show, and I even kind of like the five year thing, now that they are filling in the blanks (slowly, though!) in flashbacks. Just little pieces at a time.

I'm not really sure how I feel. Sure, they bounced back after that horrible second season. But if they keep pulling things like the five year gap they did this season, I'm going to gag. I hate that they did that and I also hate that they split Susan and Mike up. We waited so long for them to finally be together and just when they have they're happy, they pull this stunt. (Sorry...I don't like Jackson. And he may be off the show for awhile so he can recover.)
Some storylines are also being recycled. Porter having an affair with an older married woman. We saw that in the first season with Gabby and John. And then Lynette and Tom trying to cover for their son. Again, saw that in the first season with Bree and Rex.
If that's what this show has come down to, then it's a bad idea to extend it. Things need to improve before ABC regrets that decision.

yeah if they are just going to do the same kind of things over and over again they should quit while they are ahead!! and i think jackson is suppose to start showing up again soon.. i heard one place he was going to be back in jan but that seems too soon and then another place his character is going to show up via phone calls so they will have his voice or something until he is able to come back.. of course that all can change and it seems like they are gearing it to get susan and mike back together so i wont hold my breath for jackson even if i wanna haha

i'm glad they are keeping it going. i really love watching it. I didn't watch it the first few seasons, but then i caught part of one episode and i was hooked. i really like following the story line and can't wait to see what will happen next. i was dying to know who edie's husband was after. Now we know it was mike and i'm assuming that mike is the one that killed dave's brother in prison. so that is why dave wants revenge against him. i hope that it isn't a way to get rid of mike though because i would miss seeing him on whisteria lane ;)
