I was out just after sunrise walking down the River Taff near my home in Cardiff South Wales, when I saw this majestic tree, standing tall in the low December sun. It is not that I hadn't seen it before, it was just that this morning the way the sun was striking it gave it an almost spiritual feeling. I thought I would share it with my friends here on myLot.
I remembered as a kid, always finding an irresistible urge to climb trees, and this tree seemed just as welcoming. But of course my tree-climbing days are well and truly gone, and I think this one would have been a little too big for me anyway!

This is so beautiful! I am glad that you shared this with us. I may be late in digging out this but the appreciation and inspiration is never the less. Nature is the art of GOd and I do feel that it can heal us of our intrinsic bleakness and sometimes extrinsic illnesses as well. I love the greens and anything close to nature is a beauty undefined.
Thanks for sharing this.

I know. We always have an affinity towards a particular tree of any stage of our life time. Mostly childhood. I still can vividly reminisce the trees on the whose branches we tied the swings, whose branches we climbed and sat astride, from whose branches we looked down and scared to know that we have climbed too far with enthusiasm. Yes I can understand what you are trying to say. A tree will be always there in any person’s life.

I just started to recognize how important achieving balance in life is
and nature plays a big part in it
so recently I decided to walk out of the house as often as I can
we have a small backyard that I go to and sit there to read
there is a very old tree and sometimes I touch it just to feel
we are not allowed to cut down trees easily here and I agree to that
my tree is very old and I can still feel its energy
I have been feeding it lately and hubby has started a veggie garden too
next year we will have more greens in our backyard

Thank you for posting LittleMel. I know what you're saying when you say that you can feel the energy of this old tree. I have also felt that with trees also. There was nothing I liked more as a kid than to climb up into the branches of an old tree and just sit there. That energy is very attractive. - Derek

Thanks for sharing.
As a child I was always climbing trees myself.
I always felt like I was not alone.
The last tree I climbed, was last year.
I am 42 years old.
LOL!!!
At that moment , it felt great.
But for about one week I had muscle pains!!!!
So, I guess my climbing tree days are over too.
Take care.

Hey derek! It is always nice to take a walk especially down
a nice scenic route down by a river. And sunrise and sunset
are the most wonderous times to get out and see the world as
it is waking or ending the day! I love looking at nature too!
And yes, trees can be beautiful to look at if you really stop
and take a real "look"! I used to love to climb trees when
I was a kid too! Even though I was a girly girl there was still
times I liked to play on the rocks and mountains and try to
climb trees and oh how I loved to climb fences! Oh, how I
miss those days! Thanks for giving me a quick flashback to
some "fun" times for me because they were very few.

I am the only one in my entire neighborhood who owns a lot without any trees on it. I plan on changing that very soon. Trees make me happy. I can't stand my back yard as it is. It feels naked. I also love drawing trees.

I do know what you mean about the power of trees. I often feel it. There are some trees I feel I know well and I enjoy seeing them in all seasons.
An old yew tree in a churchyard near to where I live is known to have been growing there for a thousand years. Not only is that amazing, it feels very special to stand beneath it, see its huge trunk and look up into its branches.
The winter sun at dawn and dusk can enhance the majesty of the trees. It's a great photo. Thanks for sharing.
