soon to be father...what should i expect?

A happy Baby? Hmmm, newborn babies are not exactly a happy bunch. They are also entirely self-centered, and I have heard that some experts guess that the first thought in a newborn baby's head is "Look what I've done!" They think they are the center of a universe (and they are the center of their own universe). They can be grumpy as well (diaper and colic problems, almost all babies have their grumpy days). But we forgive them because they are so tiny and beautiful. And they keep getting better, once they hit about six months, they become "happy baby" and will smile and pattycake and kiss dad and all sorts of squishy fun things.
