Is it bad to share your Personal information on Internet while chatting?

I dont think that we have to give our personal information to friends over the net. I had a bad experience about the same. There was this person whom i had chat with and later had given my mobile number , after which he started giving me messages, at first they seemed good, but later he started giving stupid and non sense messages which make no sense. I have asked him to stop sending messages many times, but he never does, even today he keeps sending such non-sense messages which really irritate me. At first i used to get into rage and tensed seeing such messages but now, i just keep quite and let him give as many as he wants. I never reply to him. I can change my sim card, but i have given my number to many of my friends and at work too. Hence, what i feel is not to give our personal info at any cost to any person over the net. It causes unnecesary irritation and invitation of trouble by ourselves.

i think it depends on the person. it's not a question if it's bad or good at all in general. if you think there's nothing wrong with it, then you are free to share your personal information to anyone you want. but if you would ask me, it's think it would be best if you know that the person is really trust-worthy. don't give too much personal information 'cause they might use it on things like identity theft or something.

I would never share anything to personal with anyone online. Uou don't know them and what they may do with your information.

i dont know wether it is bad to reveal the personal informations of an individual to the chaters during chatting. this type of habbit is not good sometimes you gonna get cheated by using ur own informations used by them. so according to me its not so good to say about ones personal things to others while chatting

There are some people who would get over excited when they made new friends on the internet via chatting. Some of them are even too excited to stop and think carefully before giving away personal informations... It is okay if we know the person that we are talking to online. For example an old classmates, or our ex neighbors or anybody else that fits into that category. However, it is not okay to reveal too much information to strangers especially when it is over the internet where it is very difficult to know who is really there on the other end... There have been many cases where people got tricked or become victims to some bad people who are using the internet as their modus operandi... We might think that we are too smart to become a victim but think again. If we are not careful, we can also easily fall victim to those crooks... Cheers!

with all the internet creeps out there? Sharing information is something you do at your own risk. Now there are a lot of people who are nice and honest but how does one weed out the bad from the good?
