I received a private email

This email stated that the person noticed that I usually sign my responses with the word 'Blessings'. They went on to say that they thought that this was false and out of place. Just to make my position clear I am letting everyone know that when I type "blessings' at the end of my response it is simply that I have asked God to bless the person and that I have said a little prayer for them. If the word blessings is not typed it is then that I forgot to pray for them. Nothing more or less. Blessings to all my friends and mylotters everywhere

Hi cynthiann! And you said this was a "friend"! You need to delete them from your list if that is what they call friendship! That wasn't a nice thing to say! You can say whatever you want! Why would someone say that to you? How would they know if you want to say Blessings then you should be allowed to say it! Why would they take offense at something like that and call themself your friend? That doesn't make any sense! Well Bless you too and you can bless anyone you want because that is a lovely thing to do!

I will let them delete me as a friend and they do not need to respons to any posting I make. That is their choice. Thank you for your response and also for your blessings. Have a blessed day!

Oh well I guess there are just people who judges other people easily. For me those things do not bother me if you are comfortable with the way you use that word in your post then do so. Some people's belief systems are just too over rated at times that they just get ticked off by something that is not really offending or may create any damage to them at all. I even see some members in here that gets ticked off when they see animated avatars. As for me you sometimes just have to accept that there are people that are just like that in here.

Thank you for your response. I ma not usually on line at night. I was brought up to respect all people of all races and religions. This I have always done and will always do. My children were brought up the same way. I suppose praying comes naturally to me. If I am in a line in the bank then I pray. If I am in a line at a fast food place I look for someone so that I can ask God to bless them. I am wondering if I should stop using the word and quietly ask God to bless them. It is just me but I do not want to offend anyone. Blessings

How you choose to sign off your messages is your own business. The Mormons have a Family History Library where they collect genealogical information about families and baptize the deceased in absentia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_History_Library Their collection of Historical family information is a very useful resource. If I can benefit from their hard work, effort and resources spent, then I can tolerate some actions that have absolutely no bearing on my life personally if it makes them feel better about themselves.

No problem at all cynthiann. The Mormons also run online resources for family history research through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints organization: http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp This site is obviously not as extensive as their libraries, but it is great if you can't make it to one of their on site locations. Cheers.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with you using the word Blessing when you sign off on a comment. Why should it bother anyone? It's your choice what you type. If it offends the person, then they should stop reading your responses! I would appreciate your prayers myself, and your blessings! I sign some of my emails with 'bless you'. I'd never thought about it bothering anyone.

Cynthia, it doesn't matter how long you've been here. Nobody should be telling you what to put on your comments. That is so childish of someone to email and suggest you stop putting blessings there. Are we to get 'politically correct' here in mylot, too? I sure hope not! Christians have been hit too much already without you getting hit here, too! I wonder what mylot would say about this?

It does not bother me. If someone asks for a prayer, I will say a prayer for them. I just do not write greetings or good luck, blessings, etc. because I am rather nervous about writing something additional at the end. I think that woman was being silly. It is a nice way of letting people know. I was rather nervous when I first saw the word blessings, because it is overused by people of the pagan belief and it is nice to hear it from someone who believes in God as I do.

Well, I learn something new each day. I did not know it was used by people of a pagan belief. Perhaps you could email me privately to let me know this belief. I do believe in my God and try so hard to live a Christian life. I do respect all religions. Blessings my friend.

your blessings are fine and I can't imagine anyone questioning them. It sounds as if someone just wanted to start something negative with you. I am very sure that a majority of people here would not have any problem with you saying "blessings" at the end of your postings.

I don't see anything wrong with adding the word "blessings" to the bottom of your posts. "Blessings" can be considered a pretty generic way of wishing others well without adding any specific religion to it. I would not worry about it too much. If I were you I would continue to add it to the end of your posts.

I do hope that you have deleted them from your list by now. That takes a lot of gall and huge 'cojones' to berate someone for sharing a thought and pronouncing it false. That kind of friend no one needs. I am sorry you ended up with one such as that.

I have read some of your responses to posts and you are so very smart and funny. Blessings

Religion is a touchy and sensitive subject. I rarely say anything pertaining to god here on mylot as I am afraid the person will get offended. The only time I will is if the person asks for guidance or thoughts, or if the person is asking for prayers. Then will I only express myself in a religious way. I am glad you clarified and I hope that people will respect you and your beliefs.

It seems that someone is paying attention to you, or maybe has become a stalker shadowing your movements on myLot. We have our own way of ending messages. As for our sincerity it is up to God to evaluate. To me it is a petty matter. Anyway how did this person know you were not sincere? all the best, rosdimy

Thank you for your response. you are so right - it is up to God alone to judge our sincerity. I Think that it is petty too but if it is an annoyance then I will stop using the word.(But still pray for the person)

You know I would have to applaud that person for trying to make sense out of the smallest things in our discussions. Personally I wouldn't mind what you type at the end of you responses, whether they may be "Happy mylotting!" "Cheers" or "Go blow your head off" lol. But that guy... wow! He actually took time to comment on something so trivial. And you happened to mean well.

I understand fully what you are trying to reach with it and I do believe in your sincerity and I found it to be just fine and ain't irrelevant. It is just a small gesture of saying some good things to others. I think it is just a mere ignorance from the person who make such a comment on you or to get your attention which is more worse. I believe it is wise to ignore it and don't be bothered.
