"Microsoft released eight patches to fix 28 security flaws yesterday, including a critical flaw in the new search component in Vista and Windows Server 2008.
Of the eight patches, which will be the last released from Microsoft in 2008, six were described at 'critical' while the other two were listed as 'important'."
i read this story on my pcworld's email subscription. Even if everyone say that these security fixes and patches are important. i don't bother to update my system.
Do you update your system regularly?

mines Vista and it updates automatically -i just postpone it when im doing something -but after a while i update it- it takes a while but i think it has to be done.
Since its not mine -I wont alter the settings so I wont have trouble w/ the owner lol.
I think you should also update your system regularly -it has a purpose -and most likely it will help your system

Although I installed Windows XP pro in Linux Ubuntu via VirtualBox.... I still update especially the latest security patches.... So I won't keep on blaming Microsoft if there's some problem on my Windows system....

I do but not necessarily immediately. It depends on what I'm doing and how critical the patch is. Usually I wait until I'm finished with things rather than install first and wait until that's done.

Yep! I almost always update my PC here in the office - only because I could with no restrictions :D I actually set it to automatically download updates and just ask me when I want them installed so it doesn't bother me at all. But as for my personal laptop, I rarely do that, as long as it's working good then I don't want to waste any more space on such patches. The last thing I want to do is to be part of an experiment patch by Microsoft - a patch that needs another patch to fix it x__x
Thanks for the response on my discussion!

hello there...
i update my computer each time windows update notifies me that there's a new update... i don't care whether it's important update or normal one, i just download and install it because you'll never know when this flaws would become bigger...

I have a Windows XP SP3 installed on my computer and I update and install the latest patches available.I know this is not necessary for the general user but I prefer to be on the safe side.

No i don't update because i am happy with what i am using and updating takes more time so i am very lazy updating the windows i don't update and prefer service packs and third party firewalls and security center to protect my computer against virus and all other problems

Call me retarded but I don't know why you *wouldn't* get the latest security updates...unless you need your system to be up be 100% of the time. Windows servers are a pain...
