When I was still young, I remember being unconcerned with the type of oil that we use for cooking. But now that we are more informed of the benefits and harm that oils have, we have made a lot of changes. For salads, we have veered away from using mayo-based salad dressing. And for pasta, as much as we can, we have veered away from cream-based sauces. although white sauces are my fave when it comes to pasta. :( instead we choose oil-based ones, specifically pasta sauces abd salad dressings that make use of extra virgin olive oil. In frying, we have been using canola oil for the past couple of weeks.
How about you, what oil do you use in your salad dressings? pasta sauces? and in frying?

We don't use oil in our salad - we like vinaigrette but I also like Creamy Mango dressing or Creamy Avocado dressing although I don't know how to make them :P I just buy them from a specific store.
For frying, we use Canola (Canadian Oil) which is also a sort of vegetable oil but is rich in monounsaturated fat instead of saturated fat :)
Thanks for the response on my discussion!

Hi, rensal77! I use cream dressing for my salads. And I use virgin oil for my pastas. And I use Canola Oil for my frying purposes. I know that I need to reduce the dressing that I am using on my salads. I do love using reduced fat salad dressings. I will try the extra Virgin Oil.

I have used Canola oil for years for cooking. I don't use oil in salad dressings. We usually use Ranch dressing. If I was making a salad dressing, it would probably be with olive oil. But I mostly use Canola oil around here.
