Looks a bit fishy to me

Since Ciao overhauled its earning system, I've seen the surge on new members. The weird thing is that they don't post any reviews, just invites a lot of people to be their friend there. Sometimes there messages are the same. "Hi help me be successful and I'll help you too. Pls add me in your circle of trust." Am I just paranoid or is it possible that someone really is making these dummy accounts just to cash in the $1 pay for referrals?

That's not exactly the case because they won't be able to get the $1 referral bonus until the time they start making their first review. And if they do make a bogus account then in due time they will be caught. Don't worry about it, if you have added some of them and they don't have any reviews then you can easily remove them from your friends anytime also.

Maybe there are still a lot who wanted to earn from Ciao or those are probably some of the banned members who try to earn again.

I know sirrob. But I'm still wondering why there are so many new accounts now?

I'm receiving lots of request too. If someone is desperate enough to reach the payout perhaps he might create a dummy account using another computer.

I think so. And right now we can only earn if our reviews are chosen or if someone give a positive rating to our reviews.

The new account needs to make at least 1 review before the person who referred gets the dollar right?

Lol I've had that experience before (the message thing with friend requests), people are getting desperate for that money. I wish they hadn't taken out the 25 cents incentive. What they could've done is just pay the reviews that gets rated positively and stuff like that. That leads to more people writing only about popular products so people would actually search for reviews. The members would be able to decide whether or not its pay-worthy.

Yes. And have you noticed too that a lot of people seems to be rating reviews exceptional now that their is a premium fund system? When there was still th 35 cents incentive, I rarely see people rate reviews exceptional.

yah, i smell that too.lol..since they posted the new policy, i only posted one review.the rest of my activities at ciao are devoted for rating and adding friends..and yes, i had proven that effective because i've seen increase in my earnings since i rated and added more friend although some don't rate back..i guess i have to sort out my friend list again..i do delete friends who are not even bother to visit my reviews..

I also received a lot of messages from Ciao, but what I did is just ignore the nessage. To be true, I am very disappointed with the new policy, but i still write for them. You have to be rated as exceptional for you to qualify for premium fund.

Having exceptional ratings is for Ciao Diamonds which is separate from the ratings in Premium funds.

I hate spammers too, what i am doing is just ignore them, i just accept their invitation. If i have time then i visit their page, if i like their review, then i rate them, if they start spamming then i ignore them forever.

What constitutes spamming in Ciao? Is it alright to post once in a while informing that you have a new review or is that a spam too?

Well, that happens in a lot of the sites that have the Referral bonuses. People who figure out ways for people to sign up under them just for the Referral $$, or they will sign up under a lot of different names a lot of times on seperate Computers and have people think they are someone New as well. When sites allow more than one person from any Computer to have an account in there, that is often a lot of what happens there for sure.

just this thought occured to me. I have seen similar request. they are also sending me friend's request and trying to send the same message to add to circle of trust.

Yes, I also noticed that. Probably, it's the most appropriate for them not to post reviews but rather gain more friends.

I have recently registered at Ciao, and quite frankly, I don't know much on this area of that site, I do ask request to some people there but definitely, as much as I can I do sincerely meant what I told them and some do fail to rate my reviews. Spammers of creating another account could happen any website for that matter, people are in dire need of earnings.
