When it comes to Christmas and gifts, many of us have a lot of people we buy and receive gifts from. Even with the Economy being as Bad as it is, a lot of us are still out there buying things just to help keep the Spirit of Christmas alive. But in the Spirit of things, are you one who Loves to Buy gifts, or receive them? Do you feel obligated from someone if they give you a gift that you should buy them one as well?
Personally, even though it is nice to receive gifts, I would rather be the one out there buying gifts for someone, as it is better to give than receive. That is one of the main reasons even though I do not have kids that I buy all of the kids from my Church under 12 a little something each yr. for Christmas, and then try and get a little something for some of my friends from work who have younger kids too. It always leaves a Good feeling for sure.

I would much rather be the giver.....when I see someone's face light up that's enough for me..today I delivered a few early presents....a pair of boots to someone that doesn't have any and has to walk everywhere she goes....and some games to the Toys for Tots....I smiled all the way home. I also do alot of little gifts....just very little but it seems to brighten someones day....I have been so very blessed that I have received more then what I need!

I feel the same way. However as I age, I also feel happy if I receive gifts on Christmas and even on my birthdays from my friends and family. It makes me feel extra special. Giving is a great value. Receiving makes you feel important. I guess I both like to give and receive.

It is such a great feeling when you can give someone special in your life a little something for Christmas. You are so right in saying that it is better to give then receive. I think it is so sweet of you to give to all the little ones at your church. I always make sure to get something nice for the Sunday School teachers at our church as an appreciation of them dedicating their own time to teach our children.

When I was a kid it was all about getting gifts for me, but now that I am an adult I am more concerned about giving gifts than getting them. I don't ever shower my kids with gifts around Christmastime, but I do make sure they have a decent amount of presents to open. It is always nice to see the look on their faces when they open their gifts.

Yes Krause, it is always nice to give presentations to others specially your dear and loved ones. Because you earn trust, goodwill and love by presenting people with gifts! But at the same time, reciprocate others also by receiving gifts, if others are giving something as presentation, really meant for you as their near or dear ones! Thanks for this nice topic and have a merry Christmas!!!

Even i don't have sufficient money to give the gifts to the people, but i like to give gifts rather than receiving. I will give gifts to others but i don't expect any gifts from them. It is very bad to expect gifts from others. I would like to buy the gifts which are useful for kids, because they will be very happy after receiving these gifts. I want to see the kids of my relatives and know people be happy on the christmas day. I want to see the kids playing with the gifts given by me, so that i will be more happy after seeing all these

Personally I prefer to give presents to other people. When I get something I feel awkward like I don't deserve what I am getting. But giving a present to someone, especially if it a researched present that you know the person wanted, brings a smile to my face and makes me happy all day long. My husband and I give to people as much as we can. It doesn't even have to be a physical item. If one of our friends is walking somewhere we will give them a ride, if they need help moving we help, if they need a few bucks for something we gladly let them have some. A friend of ours told us to remember a quote YOU GIVE TO GET TO GIVE and I think it is true. The joy and happiness we have given other people has payed us back trememdously. When we were down on our luck people stepped us and helped us out. Even when we didn't have a penny to space I was already planning on ways to repay them. Even if it was something simple like a card with a personal note inside of it. Giving them what I could made me feel whole inside and happy because I let them know I appreciated what all they had done for us.

I agree, Id rather be the giver. My kids are always asking me well Mom, what do YOU want for Christmas? etc... I haven't even thought about me!
I'm a volunteer and crcohet for the neonatal babies, and it is so rewarding even though they themselves can't say than you, it warms my heart to see them cuddled in the blankets and hat I can make.

I love to take part when I can in the toys for tots and other gifting services that people hold every year. Unfortunately this year I canno take part....so I am going to make sure the next time I do get to do this it will be a doozy of a gift I give someone.
I would say I am fifty/fifty with the giving and receiving..only cause it is the kid in me that loves to give and loves to receive.

I find it hard to answer the question we are asked this time of year "what do you want for Christmas" because I have what I need and thats all I want. I would be just as happy receiving a box of candy rather than an i-phone. But when it comes to giving I just love it!! I love seeing the expression on the faces of those I care about when my gift has made them happy.

I prefer to give for it felt happy. Gratitude is the memory of the heart and I would like to be gratify by someone. If someone gave me a give I'll make sure I have a gift for him/her too.

I like to receive gifts of course but I prefer giving them. I don't like shopping most of the time but I really like looking for gifts for other people and having an excuse to buy something I think someone else will like. I especially love getting stuff for my kids. I always get them more than I can really afford and then my older one gets spoilt again 3 weeks later on his birthday! The best thing is when you see how much they appreciate things. Some people just expect and don't appreciate and that's not good so it's especially nice if someone really does appreciate that you've got them something.

Hi There. Wow! Well, when I was a kid until I reached college it feels good when I receive gifts from someone or family and friends especially when it is holidays because it’s a good a feeling that somebody remembers you. And if I have spare or extra money, I buy them presents too but when I started working, I realized that there will be times that it feels good to be the one to GIVE gifts to your friends, family especially to kids. I realized that when our team went to one of the charity here and I bought some gifts and foods for them. My heart melts when a kid gave me a hug and said that she loves the small tiny doll that I gave her. It is a different meaning I guess… I always thought why my parents would spend time buying gifts from us then wrap it… Now I know that they feel different when their kids excitedly open the gifts and happy that they got one.
Happy Holidays! And Happy Mylotting! Cheers!

well, i love to receive presents... who doesn't? lol but that said, i definitely would much rather spend time picking out a thoughtful gift for one of my loved ones, knowing how much i think they will like it, and see their reaction when i give it to them. i love giving gifts to others! if we had more money i would do it more often. i am the same way with picking out greeting cards as well. i will look at the cards until i find the perfect one for the person i am giving it to. :)

Giving always has a rewarding feeling itself that is why some of us would really prefer to give than receive. In this season of love and peace it feels good to give and receive. I do prefer to give much more than receive and I have always done this ever since. I see to it that I wrap some simple gift for nephews and nieces.
