I never done this but know people that have and you have to make sure they don't know your real name or where you live at all because with technology and everything these days, it doesn't take much to find whoever you want. This is a very dangerous practice since these people sit in there all day thinking about the day they get out and who is going to be there to take them in when the day comes. Only problem is could be many years or never but then these inmates will expect you to send them money every week for canteen and want you to always come for visits and not mention all the phone calls. Most jails here in Canada have a phone right in the bigger cells so if the inmate want he could be calling you all day running your phone bill through the roof. If I was you I would steer clear of this altogether because you never know what trouble could become of it.

Yes they could call and run up your bill, but think logically.....if you don't acccept the calls, they can't run up the bill now can they ?

Write to an inmate whom you don't know? I'm better off messaging anyone on mylot at random. Why write to a criminal anyway? Pretty understandable if you know the person but a criminal you don't know? I don't see the logic there...unless you're doing research on inmates....
