When a sportsman who has done great things for his country but finds that in the twilight of his career he is in poor form and not able to give his best, what should he do,still carry on or retire? Rahul Dravid has done yeoman service for India. He has one of the highest averages both in and out side the country. He has had some great scores against the top teams of the world and has more than 10,000 runs in test cricket. However age has caught up with him and his reflexes are not that good.Of late a string of poor scores by his standards must be bugging him to no end. Moreover he looks very tense and has a worried look on his face when he is on the field. Usmiling as he usually is he does not seem to be enjoying the ame any more. Both the stalwarts Sourav Ganguly and Anil Kumble have retired and already people are asking why he doesn`t too? do you think that he should call it a day at the end of this India-England series or should he still carry on with the hope that he will somehow return to his original form? Thare are many youngsters eagerly waiting in the wings. Is his presence in the team not stopping their chances? Tell me what you think of it?

Yes, in the past 1 year, Rahul Dravid's performance has been really frustrating and I think he is aging out. Just before 2 years, Rahul Dravid has been in top class form and has been constantly in the top position in ICC test match table. But, now he is not even in the top 20 players in the ICC rankings. I think he should decide about his career soon. He has also not proven anything great while he was captaining the side for about 1 and a half year. But before is captaincy he was in a great form and after he became captain, everything went wrong for him and things were not working the way he thought. I honestly think its time for Dravid to retire from International cricket. Over the years, he has done so much for Indian cricket and has been a great wall for Indians when it comes to batting. Getting is wicket was been something very tough job for the opposition, unless he gets run out. Being such a wonderful batsman, its really sad what has happened to him right now. This is exactly the same thing that happened to Ganguly as well. But, if he isn't want to retire and if he still thinks that he has still something left in him, I think he should be rested for a couple of series and should be made to play in domestic matches a bit and then regain his form and come back in the side again. But, he is really of the greatest test match player and don't forgot he is one of the very few players that have reached 10,000 runs in both test matche as well as one day match cricket.

It has become tendency of indian cricketers until the public and selectors kick them out of the team. They really don't want a graceful exit. Probably they think that till date whatever they have earned is very less. They keep on playing unless the whole world around them becomes sick of them and pray for their retirement. And by the time they decide to retire, the people really appreciate them, this time not because they had a good career, but because now they will not see this crap any more on the field. This is exactly what happening to rahul dravid and even though his time for retirement has come, he won't retire unless he is really kicked off. An indian cricketer does not have a graceful exit to his fate! This is more importantly because of himself.

He is very good cricketer and a captain of India in his past. Now his performance is not like that. he is already 35+ if he is getting chance to do better performance then how much time he should play . It is better to chance some new good player . and Dravid should retire

I think a player should never retire when he is going through a bad patch,he should defienetly prove his critics wrong and then retire,so that the history will speak high of him but retiring at the wrong time will be bad for any player and i think rahul dravid is just one good knock away to regain his form,he has served as the wall of Indian test cricket for quiet some time and i think he should be given some repect and he should be given atleast one more series to prove himself...happy mylotting..

no ways,, he has still got chances to show his cricket he would regain his form and proove that he is a good cricketer, one advantage is that he is not forced by the cricketboard like done to ganguly...........so he must regain his form, lets hope for a gud cricket from him in the forthcomin matches and i am damn sure thhat this s not d time to retire.......

i don't know about retiring. but it is definitely the time for dravid to take a brake. we should leave the right to retire to dravid.he should decide when to do it. but he is in horrible form right now. if he is not retiring after this series he should be allowed to go home and think and correct his problem what ever it is.

yes definitely now its time for rahul dravid to hang his boots.every good thing has to come to an end one day.his body language doesnt hint at him being confident to take up the challenge since past few series for india.he has done enogh for indian cricket and took indian cricket to even greater heights.

i think it is time for dravid to take a call of his future, no doubt he is the great player for india but past one year he could not able to perform so great and he is moving to a last full times of his career and i think it is right time and frame for him to retire and maintain his name in the team

At the present situations of Indian cricket team, the one-day is the best team and we have the best of the best players as per the age groups where as the elder players like Sachin,Dravid and Saurav they made the best in all the one day and test matches now i think they give the chances for the younger players. where we got the 20-20 format matches our indian cricket team made the history by getting the world cup 20-20 with the help of only younger players but not the support of their elder players so dravid should take some reasonable steps about his batting style and he should make himself the comeback with new era of his style now a days all are looking only for scoring not for digging so he should look for each and every option
