Suppose if you find a venomous Cobra in your house/compound what would u do?
I believe we should not kill any living creature, but what if leaving alone a dangerous creature like a Cobra prove fatal to your life in the future?
There is one such guy moving around my house for the last few days... i really don't know what to do... if some one step on that accidentally it might prove deadly.
Snakes are such an unfortunate creatures ...

I'll shout for my parents first. However, I doubt they can do anything about it. Then, I'll call the Pest Busters ASAP!! I'll ask my daddy or brother to corner that snake so that it won't escape.
I don't live on ground floor so chances of such things happening is low. Thank God!!

All u need is a good flexible stick to whack the snake in the middle, after that the snake will be immobilised and u can do what ever u need after that. I feel sorry for the snake, but these creatures are made to be killed when ever they are seen in public.

Actually i killed that snake yesterday... it got trapped inside our water meeter pit, i don't like to harm any other creature with out a reason, that was the only thing which really stood between me killing the snake. But this guy is dangerous, even if some one step on it accidentally it could prove dangerous, so i decided there is nothing wrong in killing this snake for the sake of public good. We live in a house and we can expect some 4-5 encounters like this every year!

I would definitely kill it. I do believe also that we should not kill any living creature but seeing cobra inside your house is different. I would definitely kill it first rather than letting that cobra hurt me first.

I only know of cobras by repute from reading the stories of Rudyard Kipling.
You could catch the snake and release it outside somewhere at a distance. It would probably then go and terrorize someone else (who might kill it). Or you might get a mongoose as a pet. I understand that they are well able to deal with cobras.

hmm... i live in a tropical rain forest... and we have all kinds of snakes here. There used to be few mongoose here on duty but it seems that they are on some kinda holiday. Our cat was trying to deal with the snake but i don't think he is good enough to fight and still live to tell the story. I think killing a snake is much easier than catching it and leaving it some were else, and this guy is very angry .. when u try to get closer it stands up and start hissing...

My first reaction would be to make a stick with a noose on the end and to try and catch the snake that way (I have seen it done on film in zoos and wildlife parks). My second thought is that, if the snake is so angry, I wonder if it hasn't come into your house to nest! I don't know if cobras care for their eggs until they hatch but, if they do, I can imagine that they would be very protective.
Certainly, it is bad karma to kill animals but, I believe that humans and cobras can't really share a house together, so if killing is the only way (and you do it with sorrow and compassion), your karma will not be set back too much.
