Do you take some medicine when you just catch a cold or something?

Sometimes, if I caught a cold, I wouldn't do anything. However, everything would be fine after several days! Last week, I caught a cold and didn't want to take the medicine as usual! But my uncle visited me and asked me to buy some medicine! He was so strict that I had to give in to his persuasion!
If you are indisposed, what will you do?

I never take medicines for colds. If you let your body do the fighting for itself in minor illnesses it builds up your immune system. That's what I was brought up to believe and, as I'm rarely ill, I believe it.

Or maybe you could drink a warm honey and lemon drink and fool him into thinking it's medicine. That's if you think it's necessary to stop him nagging.

I do know that! This is one of the reasons that I don't want to take the medicine! I guess next time I won't agree with my uncle!

When I'm sick i never take medicine. I just wait for it to be gone. I know it would be fine after several days. Like what you've said. I'm afraid to take med I thought it has side effect although Doctors recommend it. I still don't like it. Medicine just give us relief. Why would I take one if I could just wait for it to be fine.
And I just drink lots of water so it'll be fine immediately. And it works.

Haha, it is very reasonable. Some onld folks won't allow me to do this! In their opinions, we should take medicine. I guess you are right though

Yeah, I had my aunt whose a doctor she always tells me to take med I just say no thanks I'm fine. Hehehe.. She can't force me. I just go to my room and sleep so that she don't bother me again just to ask to take med.

I don´t like taking medicines, myself. When I catch cold, I just ignore it unless it lasted a week. If it lasts a week, I´d get professional opinion and keep it.

The medicine doesn't taste good. But the medicinal syrup is kind of nice. Have a great day!

When i feel that I may have the cold, the first thing I will do is to drink several cups of water and have a good sleep.
As a good relax can help your body recover quickly, so that your body can fight with the cold by itself. So you may get rid of the cold by yourslef without the help of any medicine.
For i think no matter how good the medicine is, it still has some bad effect on your body. So try your best to make your body strong is a good way.

Yeah, some food are pretty helpful. Don't ignore their effect either. For example, some pears and oranges work better than the medicine sometimes!

If it is just cold, the I won't go for medicines.Drinking boiled water, taking bath in hot water and taking foods warm are all the precautions I take during a cold.Only if it turns to be a fever,I visit my physician.Because, with cold, you get cured in 1 week with medicines and it takes 7 days without medicine.LOL!Cheer up!

It depends on my symptoms. A common cold lasts a week or so whether it is treated or not, but secondary infections frequently need to be treated. Also, sometimes a stuffy nose will prevent one from sleeping, so something needs to be taken for that. Sore throats are uncomfortable, so one might want to treat that with aspirin and a salt water gargle. The treatments suggested are treating the symptoms, not the cold. Secondary infections MAY need to be seen by a doctor.

A salt water gargle must be an American "prescription". I've never heard that before. But it is nice. Have a great day!

Hi hiddenwing! It depends. If it is just a cold, there isn't
much you can do except wait for it to go away! If you are
really uncomfortable and can't breathe then I use a nasal
spray. If I have a cough, sometimes I will use an over the
counter cough medicine. But, I have high blood pressure so
I have to be very careful. I can only use Coricidan HBP. That
is for congestion and aches and pains, like for the flu. I
also get brochitis so if I am really badly coughing or
congested for over a week then I have to go to the doctor.
Other than that I drink orange juice and green tea and get
as much rest as possible.

I used to just wait it out because I hate going to the doctor. The last time I got really sick though, I felt horrible for almost 2 weeks before I got any medicine. I had a really sore throat, and I just felt absolutely miserable. Every time I ate, drank, or swallowed anything, I had really awful pain in my throat. After being sick for about two weeks, a friend of mine mentioned that I looked really pale and like I didn't feel well. I told her about me being sick, and she asked if I had been to the doctor. Of course I hadn't. She told me that she had some leftover antibiotics at her house if I wanted to take them, and see if that helped. (I know you really shouldn't do that, but I was so desperate to feel better, and since it was about 10:30 at night, I didn't want to go sit at the Emergency Room.) So I got the medicine from her, and I woke up the next morning feeling tons better. After the second dose, I couldn't even tell that I had been sick at all. I felt 100% better. And after that experience, as soon as I feel a sore throat coming on, I immediately go to the doctor to get checked out and to get some meds.

I am in your same boat. When I have a headache or a cold i don't take medicine. I usually just take a little more Vitamin C and drink more water. But if my daughter is sick she gets medicine. I can't take it because i don't react well to medicine's. If you feel like you don't want to take it then no one should tell you otherwise.

I am fortunate in that I rarely get a cold or flu, probably because I train at the gym five times a week so that enables to sweat all the horrid germs out of me. A few weeks ago I had a terrible sore throat, but I still went to the gym, afterwards I felt sooooo much better, it's the combination of the endorphines that the brain releases, seratonin and being able to sweat out the germs and bacteria etc from my body through doing rigorous exercise. I don't like to take medications if I can help it because slowly your body gets immune to them!

if it a common cold,i wait for about 2days before taking any antibiotics or medicines.i try home remedies like;1. before eating, and before drinking water always wash your hands. germs can go into the body through hands also2.to incrasing resisting power into body, green tea may be taken daily.i3f you keep your legs in the warm water mixed in mustard posder, it is good for your legs and body.

I am not a fan of cold and flu medicines at all. I will occasionally take antiobiotics if it is a really bad case and will also take paracetamol every now and then if I have any pains, but aside from these two medicines, I usually just let a cold run its course. Thankfully I don't get sick very often!

Hello hiddenwing. I usually take a capsule for cold and headache once I find that I feel uncomfortable because if I don't take one, it will get worse later on. It will never improve without my taking a capsule. Also sometimes when I feel uncomfortable in my stomach, I take a small pack of stomach medicine with some warm water. For me, it is the earlier that I find myself ill, the better it is to take medicine.

Every medicine has side effect. This is the reason that I don't even want it. However, sometimes, it is not up to me. I may get worse if I avoid it. Haha, hope I will soon be better though I just catch a cold!
