I don't think it's a gender issue, I think those who are the best drivers are those who STAY OFF THEIR CELL PHONES WHILE DRIVING. Sorry, had to vent!

Is that your cell phone I hear ringing?
You make a very valid point. I find when I am on the cell phone, it takes extra effort to keep a focus on driving, and not get caught up in the phone conversation. Fortunately, I don't have to do it too much.
Also, it really has nothing to do with hands free. It is an issue of the mind being distracted.

As a woman, I can say that most women I know like to multi-task. And they're good at it, too. Women can definitely multi-task at home, at work...but in the car, there's no room for multi-tasking. Driving a 2-ton vehicle should involve no distractions whatsoever. I think a lot of women believe that they CAN multi-task well, so they'll be okay doing it in the car.
Also, even though men are more aggressive, on the same token, women hesitate more. There is no easier way to ensure a wreck than by unnecessary hesitation.

There was a study done a few years ago. In the study, they found men would run stop lights because they were going too fast to stop in time.
That same study found that an equal amount of women also ran stop lights. Only their reason for running it is they weren't paying attention.
So, I don't think there's any real difference when it comes to who's the better driver.

Neither one or the other, there are good and bad in both Men and Women drivers, from what I have experienced. I would say I was a good driver, but then sometimes, I even doubt myself.

Well I asked the insurance man and he said that more men in accidents then women...men have 35% more accidents then women because he says a woman tends to be more sensiable driver. And men like there speed. So i as well will say that woman drivers are better I am a better driver than my hubby,dad,brother,etc....

Women. I am a man. I say this because as I walk everywhere I see how people drive. Most guys would rather look at me (I am not gay but they probably are) and not the road. I don't mean a couple of guys I'm talking ALMOST EVERY guy out there STARES at me. Women mostly watch road.

I would have to say that men are more skilled drivers. I cannot even back my car up without hitting something. But i think women are better at driving a straight line. ha ha

I don't think you can determine who is a better driver by their gender and find that sexist. All drivers are different. Some are better than others. It just depends on the person, not whether they were born male or female. People have a choice on whether or not they want to be a good driver, they don't get to choose their gender though.
