I have had my iron out for the last couple of days while I make a quilt for my granddaughter. I finished it last night and will put away the ironing board and iron. Before I do I am going to touch up some things in my closet that need just a bit of ironing. Do you still do alot of ironing?

Before we do a lot of ironing back when I'm still studying. We have uniforms that need to be ironed to looked presentable and a good student. Now that I'm out of University, I rarely iron my clothes and also my family just iron the clothes that need to be iron. Ironing clothes would consume lots of electricity that's why I rarely iron my clothes. I'm cost cutting especially the high bills. Since we don't regularly iron our clothes, the consumption and the bill on electricity had drop down.

Yes, I can't escape that. I cannot go to office without ironing my dress and its to costly to give it in market for ironing. So I can't escape but do ironing. Its really important that when you move out from home, you are in a good shape and ironed clothes really help you to achieve that.

I hate ironing, I only tried it once and almost burned the shirt! It's a good thing we have a maid who does the ironing at home. If I did it myself, it would take me an hour to do maybe 5 items of clothing haha. Anyway, I'll be moving away from home for work in a few months, so I'm loading up on clothes that don't need to be ironed anymore. However, I can't do away with the collared cotton shirts, so i think I'll just get someone to iron those for me next time.

I hardly do any ironing. Don't feel like I need to unless it is for work interview clothes. There are inventions nowadays that can help you skip the ironing board, like clothes dryers that use hot steam.

Yes, I still do a lot of ironing. Both my husband and I have to wear formally to work, hence all of our working attires need to be ironed. I usually iron the clothes once or twice a week. If I'm too lazy, sometimes I just wake up early in the morning and iron the clothes that we are going to wear on that day.

Unfortunately, *sighs* yes. LOL
I have three school-aged kids whose uniforms need to be ironed every Sunday night to get them all ready for wearing for the rest of the week. (So imagine how pleased I am when vacation days roll around).
Happily, my husband loves helping out with house chores so he sometimes takes over ironing from me. What a relief! Ironing is back-breaking work especially if you have to do it for about three hours straight. But we do that to save electricity instead of ironing a few pieces here and there every day of the week.

Thank you :) Yes, I am very blessed that my better half doesn't subscribe to the stupid macho male ego that some men have. You know, one of our male friends come home everyday and just sits on the sofa to watch TV while he waits for his wife to serve all his needs! He says men are not made to do housework. Duh. I always wanted to retort that he's lucky he's not a single dad! How would he have coped if he is!

Yes, I used to do that earlier. But now a days, I get the clothes of my family ironed by a hired person, as my two kids are very young and don't have anybody to control them while I'm ironing.

You finished your last minute project???? my God you are good. I dont do much ironing as most of our things I get are things that you dont have to iron. Only my husbands things need ironing and few of my son's and mine. So I do about 30 min a week at the most.

Whenever I finish washing my clothes, I would iron all my clothes in one day just to save some time. It would irritate me if I had to iron one outfit per day. I would make ironing an enjoyable hobby, because I really don't do a lot of exercising.

I dont do much ironing these days. We have our iron lady whom we called as she ironed our clothes at least twice or once a week. She got the clothes in the morning and return it in the afternoon already ironed. And most of my clothes needs no ironing. But I do know how to iron clothes. I was taught by my mother and sisters how to iron clothes. But if for me alone I can manage to take care of my clothes. Merry Christmas!

Hi Jill. That's so great that you know how to quilt! Bet your granddaughter is going to love having a quilt that her grandma made for it.
Yes, I do iron because I hang up most of my laundered clothes to air dry, rather than putting them in the dryer. So, they are wrinkled and tend to require some pressing. I usually just iron whatever I'm going to wear that day. The only time I iron several pieces at once is if we are getting ready to go on a trip. Then, I iron all of them so they can get wrinkled in the suitcase, LOL!

I no longer work and my husband wears casual clothes to work, so I no longer have to iron and I find myself only using the iron when I am sewing, but I can't help forgetting the feel of a freshly ironed garment. And when I was a child we used to iron dish towels, sheets and pillow cases. The were hung outside under the sund and then ironed. They always smelled so fresh.
I sometimes miss the smell and pleasant feeling of nicely ironed cloth, but not nearly enough to spend the time and energy ironing. (I don't work because I am older and disabled and not longer have the energy to spend on these things).
Meryy Christmas.
