Giving a response so others will not think bad of you

I have been on discussions of the type that infers that you have to give a certain answer or someone will think bad of you, like do you keep a clean house, does it matter how many responses to a post, do you hate people of other races, do you always wash your hands after going to the washroom, etc. Now I was wondering whether people will say that they do something because if they say "I do not respond to posts of over 200," and it does matter, or "sometimes I leave the dishes undone when I go to bed," that people will have negative feelings about them. So do you find that you maybe forget to put the dishes away, or do not vacuum once a week, and say that you do so that the other myLotters will not think of you as a sloppy rude person or whatever negative things they will think of you?

No...I say what I feel. If someone feels negative about my response...and they have...it is ok. it is just their opinion, that's all. Not everyone is going to think we are smart and wonderful etc. no matter what so I just be myself. The only people who's opinions of me really matter to me are my loved ones and the man that pays me my salary every week.

I an not that neat, my desk here is piled with stuff. And I have to wash my kitchen floor, but why bother? It will get dirty again anyway.

I do not give a rat's a$$ what anyone thinks of me but I do not answer these posts because they are IMO not discussions. What is there to discuss? Under the guidelines for Discussions it says "Don't" post meaningless discussion ....what could be more meaningless that the ones you described!!

It is meaningless, and I get tired of some who want to see if I am a good housekeeper, or I leave my dishes in the sink. I mean they do not even know the street where I live. I do not post such trash and I do get upset of others who do. I mean I get complaints about judge not, because I say it is wrong to murder, wrong to kill an unborn, and then I read these posts where I expect after someone says, "I do not wash the dishes, they are piled up in the sink and will leave them for a couple days," there will be a comment such as "oh you most horrible pig! Do you expect someone to come to your house? What if your mother or the Queen of England showed up?"

You know, that is a great point. I am pretty sure I have avoided a couple of questions like that because I knew my answers wouldn't be so popular. It wouldn't be like we did anything wrong with our answer. But it might not be what someone else would deem "acceptable."

Hi suspenseful, It has been a while.
Anyway absolutely not. I like all of my friends here but honestly there are two that I have any kind of contact with outside of here. The rest are here and well lets be honest for all that anyone knows here I could be an elf from the north pole. and just doing this during my off season. Besides I am secure in who I am and what I am. So what should the opinion of someone that I dont really know matter

I just typed out one of the longest responses that I've typed in a long time and I just lost it! I don't visit mylot as much as I had so I got out of the habit of saving what I type before I hit "post response". So now I'll have to type out the shorter version of my response.
I answer truthfully withouth worrying about what people think here in regard to whether I'm a good person/bad person or clean/unclean person.
I do try to answer respectfully, even when I disagree with someone else's views on things.
I DON'T always wash my dishes before I go to bed. Sometimes I'm just too darned tired.
I do tend to shy away from discussions that already have a ton of replies, but yesterday I replied to once such discussion because it struck a chord with me and I thought it was worthwhile. That was the "nerd" discussion btw.
I enjoyed this discussion and the questions you posed.
Take care! :-)

Heavens, no! I'm honest and if they think less of me I really don't care. I like to be respected and thought well of but I won't fudge my answers just to make a good impression.

I respond to someone with utmost respect but that doesn't necessarily mean I have to lie to that person, I do speak up what I have in mind and being honest on what I do. I think that matters around here, what you do doesn't make someone else's business too.

Well I dont know about everyone else, but I usually try to give as honest an answer as I can, within reason, but I do think some mylotters worry about getting a bad rating due to other mylotters who like to use the ratings system to get back at someone for disagreeing with them, or having there discussion or responds deleted, so there more careful of what they post, but I really dont care that much about what others think, but you still dont want people to get the wrong idea of what kind of person you are, because even when you meet people in person you want to make a good impression and an honest impression, we dont want people to think things that are untrue about us. but in mylot land we have to be a bit more thoughtful and think before we post to avoid losing earnings or discussions.

I believe in honesty is the policy, i dont care about other people thinks, for me, they ask, i just answered back, with all honesty. I dont pretend to be who i am not. I dont response to topics that i am not interested or just to earned cash, i just simply give my simple honest response. So whether they believe me or not its up to the post starter or whatever.

LOL! Isn't that the beauty of the internet? I can tell you that I am a butt-scratching, nose-picking, ear-digging, no-showering slob and all you can do is gasp as you read about it. In fact, the more varied the responses to the discussions the more interesting they are. It makes it a true discussion instead of a yes-fest. Just recently I responded to a discussion where I was the only person that admitted to a behavior that was perceived as negative by everyone else in the discussion. I was happy to put in my two cents for the other side!

I don't much worry about that. I will tell the truth. My house isn't always clean and tidy. I don't always do the dishes each night or have them always put away. I don't let them plie up. I vacuum when needed and sometimes that will even wait. I don't live like a pig, but my house is lived in. I think most of us that have been here awhile sort of know each other, that other business doesn't matter to me.

I wouldn't respond to question like "do you clean your house" or "do you clean your hands" just becuase it fits my rebellious spirit to say that I do not...
I think that questions like are created to have similar one sentence respond....

I just speak my mind. I don't mind whatever other people might think of me. I don';t try to paint the idea that I am an ideal person. I just write whatever I do feel and what I really do in real life.

When it's all said and done, is it important what other people think of you? I'm a rather sensitive person, however what other myLotters think of me is their business. As far as discussions refering to personal points, like those you mention, well I leave them alone. I skim almost all of my friend's posts, and then decide if I can provide somethimg useful to the discussion. (sometimes humorous). If not, then it's move on to the next discussion. I don't believe in criticizing friends, I'd rather not getting involved. Now, everyone won't agree with this philosphy, but that's me.
