Hi, I was going to order something online yesterday and then I noticed it did not have the safety figure when I was ready to use my cc...I emailed the store with this concern and they emailed back saying that it was safe and that in web address it changes from http to https which indicates a safe site...is this true? If so, I learned something new! Many thanks!

yes the s stands for secure. You should be fine. However with anything internet transmission can still be iffy. Good Luck!

Make sure the HTTPS site you saw is the very site you visit the first time. What's the comment about the online store, you should ask other about the store and see if other people encounter the same problems as you did.

Yes, this is true. Http changes for https when site is secure. Depends on company is always check than be sorry. If company is small, I rather double check before I order anything....

this article I see in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Https it say : Hypertext Transfer Protocol over Secure Socket Layer or https is a URI scheme used to indicate a secure communication such as payment transactions and corporate information systems. so site wich use https as protocol is a secure site like e-banking site.

The https does indicate that the communication is secure. Most websites use this for the transmission of any sensitive information on the internet. In most cases you will be fine if the site is using https as long as the web site is legitimate.

if you dont have https:\\ then the site is not secure you also might see a lock someplace on the browser which indicates that it is secure
