In the recent past Team India crumbled against the guile of mendis, Fell like a pack of cards against the rookery Australian spinner, now they have gifted their wickets to Swan in his first over.
are Indian cricketers Weak against spin bowling because of the fact that they hardy play any domestic matches anymore??

There are two sets of problem in my opinion. One the current lot of players are not great against spinners. Second they have a opinion that they can dominate spinners and try to attack too early. If you look at Indian lineup the good players of spin are Sehwag, Gambhir, Sachin and Laxman. Dravid gets into a hole against them and usually does not score fast enough against spinners. Yuvraj has always been poor against spin. Dhoni is a mixed bag, but I think he prefers pacers to spinners.
Of the four who can play spin well, Sehwag and Gambhir usually go after a spinner rather in an arrogant manner without guaging him and are therefore good candidates for falling early. Sachin and Laxman usually play spin very well, but the last 2 years, both have had a string of soft dismissals against spinners.
All these combined means that Indians are weak against spin bowling currently. I think Kirstein has to ask Sehwag and Gambhir to take their time to settle against spinners before unleashing themselves.
Cheers!
Ram

Hello Friend,Indian players strong bating lineup and they play well. One a weak point there. Indians start first game the batsmen can not play confidence and then next game they play well. This is my feeling.

I think thats incorrect to say. Infact, indian batsmen are among the best to play against spin. Remember, Saurav Ganguly. Yes, as a matter of fact in the current series if might be look like so but that's not true.

well a notion has developed since ages that indians are strong against spin bowling as we were considered weak against the pacers, but with time and as india's financial clout in world cricket began to grow, most of the cricket is being played on tracks which are not suitable to pacers.when the pacers dont get that much opportunity the spinners come into play and indians if they have to lose succumb to them.lance gibbs has the honour of bowling the best spell in test cricket and that was against indians.muraltharan has been a bane for indian batsmen, ajantha mendis made our great paper tigers look like kids, etc.ya agreed that indian stars keep away from domestic cricket and that doesnt augur well for indian cricket.bcci is just milking the players as they can earn money for every concerned people by playing more and more matches.

i dont think indian batsmen are weak against spin, or becoming weaker against spin, its just that they are over-confident,if u keep aside ajanta mendis who i beleive is exceptional, one of its kind bowler, everybody will struggle against him, indian batsmen doesnt show respect to spinner, most of them get out playing rash shots rather then bowler getting them out, most of the spinner struggle against indian batsmen if u look at their economy rates, and wicket per balls figures

well the answer is in ur post itself.mendis, kresja and swann.indians are playing against these guys for the first time.the thing i noticed about indians is during their first series against a team with a new bowler, spin or pacey, they tend to play over defensive or over offensive.but if u check our history, henry olanga, destroyed india in a match by taking 4 wickets but the very next match,he didnt even bowl the 5th over as he went wicketless and gave away 40 + runs.u have to agree, except the rookies, the indians r not struggling against any other bowlers.brett lee, dale styne(most of his wickets during that series were the 9,10 and 11 batsmen),warne and so on.the only bowler who troubled everyone is macgrath and murali is still a threat.so just wait for the next series and i can guarantee that mendis wont be this effective against the indians.

The indians have been traditionally been good at playing spin though in recent past they been playing not so well against quality spinners and the recent tour of Sri lanka proved it but i think Indians are still the best players of spin in world and since Mendis is quite new to International cricket and has a very new kind of action and a new kind of delivery so Indians couldnt read him well and it hurt them but give them some time I am sure by this time they have sorted him out and i am sure next series he would be a threat but not deadly.
