I live in Montreal and there are so many different things to see and do as a tourist that you could live a year here and still not visit everything,
I rarely go to the attractions myself,
what major tourist attractions do you have where you live, please tell me where you live, what tourist attraction is there, and
have you visited it lately, if not why not?

There's the State Capital, I used to go there a lot, before they remodeled it. I've been to the UT tower before they remodeled that too.
I once went to the O Henry Museum, a couple of times to the French Legation Museum, both long years ago. The Texas Memorial Museum, went there this summer. I've been to some of the local art museums but not for years.
I also haven't been to the LBJ Library in years. I'm sure I've missed some of the local museums, but then again, I may not know about them.

Well, years ago I helped mom arrange for tours of local sights for a group of ladies who were coming for the GRA convention - the wives, don't ya know. We even got a bus tour out to the LBJ ranch. And since the President was in residence, we didn't get to stop, but we were boarded by Secret Service and had an escort, a car in front, one between the 2 buses and one behind, but 2 agents on each bus, it was cool.
We also stopped at the LBJ birth place, but that's been much improved since then.
This was when I managed to see most of these places. Mom got to be the hostess because the Executive Director's wife had passed away and Dad was second in command. I was Mom's right hand, in my teens compared to my sister being about 9 and not useless like my brother...

I live in California. There are lots of tourist attractions here, though I've only been to a few of them and that was mostly when I was growing up. I've been to the Fisherman's Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge, Disneyland, Lake Tahoe, Hearst Castle, and the State Capitol here in Sacramento to name a few. Here is a link to the tourist attractions in California if you'd like to learn more:

I haven't visited any of them lately because of lack of transportation. Well that and because I am a homebody. LOL

I am in Karachi, a big city of Pakistan it has many tourist attractions like beach and newly developed and highly equipped with technology parks but due to non interest of Govt theses places are not well managed so mostly oue own pplz go there but tourist from other countries dont like that atmosphere and environment. It needs to manage well t develop tourism here. Some new parks build up by the Govt are really good but over all there is soo much mismanagement and street crimes also increasing.
I havent visited any place for outing in my city from last 3 yrs coz most of us are afraid of street crimes.

If I lived in Montreal I would be a tourist in my own town regularly. I haven't had the pleasure to travel there yet but sure hope to in the very near future.
I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas. We attend tourist attractions and enjoy them very much. There is the 6th Floor exhibit (museaum about the JFKennedy assassination), Dallas Museum of Arts, Dallas Aquarium, we prefer the Fort Worth zoo over the Dallas zoo, Six Flags over Texas, professional sports (Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars, Dallas Mavericks, FC Dallas), also minor league teams that we enjoy watching, Water parks, ...... my goodness, I could go on and on. It is a pretty lively area that I live in and we enjoy taking advantage of all it has to offer.

I live in a small town but in a town that is just about ten minutes away there is a big theme park. We dont go there a lot as it is pretty expensive, but my MIL gets free tickets as she lives in the town and so she gave us some in August for my sons birthday and we took him there for the day it was a good day out.

My home country is just about 685 sq km big and me having grown up here all my life, I do not find anything on this tiny island a surprise at all. But being a tourist in my own town did cross my mind sometimes when I am bored but I never attempted it yet.
We have the usual zoo / birdpark / theme park which were mandatory to visit when we were still in school. When I grew up, I outgrew these places of interest I guess.
Is a shopping belt considered a place of interest for tourist? If yes, then I guess I visited an attraction 3 weeks ago.

hi there winterose! in my case, here in the philippines, i haven't been around much, especially in my hometown in Imus, Cavite. but i am very curious about going around since there are many interesting leisurely and historical tourist spots here. there are interesting resorts, rivers and the likes. there are also historical landmarks, such as a 150-year-old bridge (unchanged and is still being used as a secondary thoroughfare here), a 100-year-old Spanish-era cannon with live armaments still beside it (quite worrying if you ask me), and of course, the historical plaza with the Spanish-era cathedral, Municipal Hall and the park. and neighbouring towns in the province also have their own share of interesting shopping malls, resorts and historical sites. =)

I live in Malaysia, and as usual, i don't get to see much tourists around here... well, at least not as much as i see in Thailand. Two years back then, when i went to Bangkok, Thailand, i see tourists EVERYWHERE, literally.
Ah, haha, yes, Bangkok's a really nice place, especially the Thais.

Well My city is also abig tourist attraction.
However the recent terrorist strike, has reduced the coming of tourist to Mumbai. Infact even the locals do not venture out, unless absolutely necessary.
I for one freak out every time there is a loud sound, or if i see an unattended bag.

While I lived in Louisiana for so long, New Orleans had the French Quarters, the Street Cars, the music and the food the casinos. Here in South West Ohio we don't have much. We have a AirForce museum. There is King's Island Amusement Park and the Cincinnati Zoo that is about all I can think of that we have. There is one casino about an hour and a half away, but this is just blue collar workers and not much fun unless you want to go to the flea market on the weekend.

Well.. In the city I am living now, I often see people who is not the resident. But I don't think they are tourists because I don't think this city has some tourist spot for them to see. If I went to Bali, there I could see tourists everywhere because the province lives from tourisms. The foreigner comes to this city I am living now, usually because the work demands, not because of the tourism. I don't think people would like to spend the holiday and go to this city for vacation in days like this.

Isn't that amazing? I think that we always take what we have for granted. When I visited Hawaii, I met a woman in her forties who was born and raised on Oahu and had since moved to the mainland. She came back for a visit and this was the first time that she ever visited Pearl Harbor. I live in the L.A. area and a close to the Getty Museum, the Huntington Library, Disneyland, Universal studios, Farmers Market and a host of other places. I haven't been to any of those places in at least five years. I guess that we all get so caught up in our daily lives that we spend our spare time doing things that we couldn't get done around the house during the week. The only thing that I do on a consistent basis is go to the beach but even with that, it seems like I only get a chance to do it about once a month.

but that is great, you can get to go to some of the things some time, I heard so many people saying they don't go because they are just not interested.
