Im not much of a church goer. Think it's because I was forced to go as a kid and I don't believe you should have to go to church to believ in god. I do very much believe in god. Im not much of a prayer either, I do very very seldom.
My family has been having difficult times lately, finacially and emotionally. So the other night I thought I would pray. My aunt also said she would pray for us (she is very religious). Anyways, we had someone call us last night that was willing to help us since they new we were behind on things and an organization also put some money towards our electric bill as a gift for christmas. This all happen yesterday I prayed the day before that.
Do you think that prayer really makes a difference, I never thought it did, but now Im not so sure. Im thinking god heard my prayer. We are not saved by any means, but it was extremely helpful.
What do you think of praying, Does it help/

Hi friend,All our difficulties and sufferings have to be faced and prayers only lessens our suffering and it gives us the strength to face our problems. It is true .But prayers will not wipe away our sufferings totally. Each and everyone in life has to face the sufferings and difficulties in life sometime or other .We can never escape from such difficulties but prayers certainly makes a difference. We would feel the burden little less through praying.
thanks for sharing.happy mylotting.

You are correct. like they say, God only helps those who help themselves. I believe that is the suffering part. How else do we learn but from our past. Thank you for sharing. God bless you this holiday.

I think prayer does effect you in many ways. God listens to our prayers. Personally thinking i get a lot self satisfaction when i pray. And most of the things go right with me. Its just that you have to believe in GOD and expect everything would go as GOD wanted it to go. thanks. be happy

Hello, messageme.
I do believe in God, as well, and, just like you, I do not think that you need to go to church to believe in God. I do not think that praying helps in the way of God being able to hear you. I do not think that God hears you when you pray at all. I do not think that he helps you just because you prayed. I do believe in the power of faith, though. If you pray, really believing that you will be helped, then you will start to see the world in a different way, and you will soon notice when somebody starts helping you. In fact, people help you all the time. You don't realize it, but they do. However, when you pray, you are opening your own eyes to it. So, it is not God, in my opinion. It is yourself. Somehow, you will get out of the situation you are in. You will have to. And then you will say that God did it. No matter the solution you find, you will say that it was sent by God. That's because of the power of your faith. You are now more attentive to the solutions of your problems, and one day you will have it solved. And then you will believe that God helped you. I really wish you luck and happiness in your life. I am sure that you will get out of any trouble.
Respectfully,
Munhozmib.

I really understand what you are saying and I think that it is very likely to be true. We notice things when we want to and if we pray our eyes are more open. Makes perfect sense. Thank you for your response.

Prayer do help especially if your sincere doing it. God would hear even our silent prayers and would take actions if he knows that the prayer is sincere and from the heart. I don't pray that often but I do believed in God though I don't have a deeper connection with God, he answered my prayers. I know that it is wrong you would only pray when you have a problem and I'm trying to changed that attitude of mine. We should know that prayers are not always answered, it depends on the will of GOD. whatever happens we trust trust in him as everything happens with a reason.

I know what you mean. I believe in him, but I also have the some problem with only praying when in need. I sometimes pray to say thanks, but not that often. I do wish I could also get out of that habit.

I think prayer actually does a lot to help us. God is always there to listen to our prayers and grant them to us. There are times that it seems like our prayers dont get answered but i think God always has the right time for everything and He always has a good reason why He wont grant you your prayers. It would either be that it is not yet a good time you give you what you ask for or maybe He has something much better to give you. Always trust in Him and have faith because He is always there for us and He would never leave us alone.

Well I wasn't sure if it was proof or just something that happened. I have never had a prayer answered before, or at least not that I know of. Thank you so much for your answer. God bless to you too.

Hi Me,
I absolutely believe in praying to God.My hubby and I are also in financial trouble due to him losing his job over a year ago and I'm disabled. We may feel at times that our prayers aren't being heard, but never give up because He is always there for us. When we are entrenched in very difficult times, we often miss the small blessings that come our way. Praying always gives me that feeling of renewed hope. Remember, we live by God's time not our own.Hang in there sweetie.xoxoxo

I almost did miss this small blessing, it wasn't till the next day that I really thought about it. That is what made me start this discussion. It's not everyday someone has came to give us something. Heck it hardly never happens thats what made me start thinking did it have anything to do with the prayer I said the night before. I truely believe it did. Thanks for sharing. God bless you and your finacial troubles.

hi message me! wow this is amazing. remember i have told you in your other discussion that God will provide. the organization who helped you out to pay the bills are God sent people. imagine where in the world can some group help you with that since they even did not know how in need you are.
now with regards to your discussion about prayers. YES prayer helps. you can find a verse in the bible that says offer your suplication to God and He will give you the desires of your heart. i cant remember the exact words but the thought is almost similar to that.
just keep on praying to God for help, He is the only one who can help us in most desperate times. i suggest you and your family go to church and thank the Lord for everything!

Yes I do remember you saying that :) They didn't know how in need we were and they even insisted to the church they wanted to help us because usually the church don't except things like this, but the lady made an exception because of how much the oganization insisted. Brings tears to my eyes. I will keep on praying not only for myself but for all those in need during this time of economic crisis. Thank you for sharing. May God bless you!

Yes ofcourse, praying really does help us. Why? because it is the only way we can talk to God although He's not answering us literally but in His own ways He knows how to help us. You've been having difficult times because God wanted you to call for Him for help. Every individual suffers from different problems everyday but if we're with God and we do believe Him, nothing is impossible. I suggest you should go to church if you have time, anyway it's only a few hours in one whole week. By doing this, we can show Him how thankful we are for everything He has done for us.

Praying helps, I feel that to pray you need to believe in something and if you believe, it supports your call which can be called as a prayer!I personally feel and believe that praying keeps you dedicated and focused about what you want! Praying can be at any place and at any time, one needn't go to a temple or a church for that!I pray, and I have seen my prayers have helped me a lot in achieving what I want.

Yes, prayer does help! Prayer is very powerful, because this is the only means that we can communicate with God. You don't need to be in church to do prayers, you can pray anywhere, as long as you're sincere. However, the truth is, God won't listen to all our prayers. There are prayers that he would approve, and won't approve. Say, if we'll ask God to make us rich, but then we'll just sit and wait, God will never give that to us. Also, the ugly thing that many people do is, they would call God only during the downside of their lives, and forget Him during the upside, which, this makes God very unhappy. For our God to be pleased with us and for Him to listen to our prayers, we should maintain our faithful relationship to Him through constant praying, cooperation and obeying His will.

Thank you. Yes I don't believe you only have to be in church to pray. I thank you for mentioning that. God will only help those who help themselves. SO if your sitting on your but waitting to get rich because you asked him, it will never happen because you are not trying to help yourself. Thank you for your response. May God bless you

I definately believe that praying helps. When you pray you let the universe (or god) know what it is that you want or need. If you never pray then god will never know what you want. I always pray. I pray about everything. I am not a highly religious person but I do believe that prayer helps. Believing that prayer helps is also beneficial because you are more likely to get what you want if you believe.

Hi! In my experience, prayer indeed helps, especially when many people are praying over the same thing. Praying gives us hope and a more positive outlook. Apart from that, we get to feel that we are not the only one carrying the burden on our shoulders. I had many prayers that had been answered. As for those that were not answered, looking back, I should say that they were not meant for me anyway.
Happy myLotting and I hope all the best for you!

I also believe that, if your prayer is not answered it is for a reason. I was never ment to be. You just don't know that at the time.

Yes I think prayer works. It's things that I have really needed, and through my prays god has provide them. My belief is that he answer prayers according to how bad you are in need. I don't go to church that much either, but I do pray. Another thing that helps reading your bible. I have fallen short by reading mine, but I'm going to get back to it. Just keep praying you will come out on top.
