if i only need to tell them something really quickly i will text, but if it is going to be a long conversation i will call because i dont want to be texting a million times.

I prefer to call, I think texting is just to leave a message, I prefer to be able to have a two way conversation with someone rather than texting back and forth, infact I can honestly say I hate texting, it takes me so long to just type one out...
