Have You Ever Been In A Traffic Jam?

The car lights shining in the photo I uploaded look really pretty, but in actuality it can be very scary. I'm talking about a traffic jam. I've been in a few, but none like the ones that I was in while driving back from Thanksgiving with my family this year. We were in 4 traffic jams 3 of which were the result of car accidents. One of which was an 8 car pile up. While in these traffic jams, I seen so many people driving crazy. It was so stupid. It was snowing and one truck drove off the interstate cutting though the grass and got on to an outer road. I just couldn't believe a lot of the stuff I saw. I mean these people could have caused even more accidents. I don't understand how people can drive so stupid and careless. Have you ever been in a traffic jam? If so, how did you deal with it, did you act crazy or did it make you more cautious?

I've heard it gets really bad in LA. I've been in a few because of car accidents and they were a pain.

Traffic Jams I have seen my share and then some. I drive a flatbed truck for a scaffold Rental company and the one thing that I have learned is that when it comes to being on the road is, " There is no shortage of stupid " Everyone is in a hurry to get to the next red light. But I see them all the time accidents that tie up the interstate for hours. And I have to tell you most of the time it is because most people seem to forget that they have a brake and only use the accelerator even with a thirty plus thousand pound truck coming at them. Then of course it is the truck drivers fault.
I was in a jam two weeks ago where a driver was trying to get on the interstate and the truck that was ahead of me had nowhere to go and rather than brake they sped up to try and beat the truck ( whom might I add was standing on his brakes trying to stop but still ran over half of the car. I spent nine hours just sitting there after EMS and police showed up.

I've been in a few traffic jams before. Fortunately the ones that I've been in never lasted very long (under an hour). And I just waited it out. Why make matters worse by driving like a maniac?
I was in a bad traffic jam while my mom was driving when I was growing up. We had gone to see the Fourth of July fireworks display somewhere in the Bay Area. When it was over everyone was trying to leave at the same time, including my mom. She couldn't get over into the lane she wanted to go to and she ended up taking the Golden Gate Bridge (or was it the Bay Bridge?) home which was very scary for her seeing as she hates driving on the freeway! I don't remember any of it, seeing as I was fast asleep (which was rare for me to do, even when I was growing up). But she did tell me about it and how it was bumper to bumper on the bridge. In a way, it was kind of a good thing it was this way so that she didn't have to drive fast on the freeway. But it must of been terrifying for her just the same!

Yes. And not only once or twice. I've been in a lot of traffic jams and I always react the same way. Pissed off! After a few minutes of cussing and pulling my hair out, I would realize that there is nothing I could do about it. So I would try to calm down and stop pulling my hair. LOL

I've been in several. I live in a small city (Dayton, Ohio) that has two major interstates intersecting (I-70 and I-75) so at times it can get busy especially since they always seem to be doing construction. I try to keep my cool. I have learned over the years that getting mad (road rage) is not a good way to handle a stressful situation. I try to stay polite even in drive. Driving in snow is scary enough, without people being stupid. I'm glad you got home safely!!!

The picture that I uploaded is actually a picture of I-70 in Missouri between St. Louis and Kansas City. Yes, I'm glad we arrived home safely too. You can never be too careful out on the roads. Thanks for commenting! Happy MyLotting!

This is a pretty good discussion because it seems traffic jams happen a lot more lately because of all the careless drivers who get into wrecks and also because of all the unneeded construction that seems to be popping up everywhere and even bad weather can cause traffic jams,I am sure there are a lot of people out there who have been in a traffic jam or two,,and then I am sure there are a lot of people who never been in a traffic jam as of yet,and if they have not I am sure they will be at one point or another, and that sucks that you were in such a bad traffic jam coming back after Thanksgiving with your family especially since three out of four of them were because of car accidents, and an eight car pile up is really bad,and yeah it sounds like some people were really being stupid, and they could have had accidents themselves just because they did not want to wait in traffic, which they are not special so they should have to wait like everyone else, and I know I have been in a couple traffic jams, but they were mostly just because I was in a big city with a lot of traffic,or I was traveling in the after work traffic and everyone was heading home, and I have been in a lot of traffic jams that were caused by the construction they are doing near the ramp to the interstate which is not needed and is a total pain in the butt if you ask me,because it slows traffic down, and the other night my mother was coming home from work at it took her at least ten minutes to get off the exit ramp because of all the construction so I believe she was definitely tired when she finally got home, and she was going to my granny's house but because of traffic she decided to just come home.

Well in this country almost everyday one could experience a traffic jam. Whether there is an accident or none, since the roads here aren't that wide and most drivers are undisciplined, traffic jams are very common. Well since I'm quite used to it I jsut sit inside the vehicle and wait until it passes.

I was in a traffic jam last night. I was stuck in our local shopping centre car park for over half an hour. I was going crazy and the car in front of me after half an hour of not moving anywhere, decided to drive on the opposite side of the road, well I followed him as I was late at getting home and we went out the entrance and drove off freely. No cars had come into the centre all this time so he was thinking what I was thinking (no cars coming in the entrance)
I would not of done this had he not of went first, but I am glad I did as later I discovered our local cinema went on fire and twenty fire fighters where blocking all the roads in the area. No Police officers or no one even directed the traffic.
I really do not ever do this sort of thing but I needed to get back to my hubby who needed medicine as he was not well, I no this is no excuse for driving madly but I knew no cars where on thatside of the road.

I have been in lot of traffic jams, since I face traffic jams every morning when going to work. Well I switch on the radio so not to get nervous and stay driving calmly. It is true that you see certain drivers acting maddly, shouting at each other and trying to skip jams which can cause more accidents and more traffic jams. Some people are not good for driving, you need lots of patience to drive and consentration so as not to cause any accident.

Yes singlemommy i completely agraa with you.Traffic jams actually test the patience of a person. They also make you realise how difficult life can be if the world was to stop moving for a couple of hours.Human beings have become so busy that a traffic jam can cause various problems.Nowadays every second of an individual is booked and such delays can lead to a lot of tension. But i personaaly feel traffic jams allow us to recall our good memories while waiting for the traffic to move.Listening to music is a good way to pass time while stuck in a traffic jam.

I am from bangalore in India and trafic jams are a part of our daily life. without that we cannot get sleep. If there is no traffic jam on a pwrticular day that means that day something is missing. you only have to learn to live with it. There is no point in fretting pver it. listen to music and enjoy the traffic

Traffic jams only makes people go crazy and carelessly. Just last month I was stacked in a traffic jam for almost two hours. It was raining so hard that the streets are flooded though not really high just knee high. It almost took one hour for our car to moved but it was very slowly just like a turtle walking. It would take more than 2 hours if the driver didn't take some alternate route. What makes the traffic worst are the drivers who cuts other cars. My ear hearts from drivers blowing horns of there cars as if it would help.

Well, I have been in traffic jams all over my life. Here in my country, the roads will be very busy all the time, since my country is one of the most populated country in the world. It will really frustrating especially when you have to go to some places urgently. The traffic jam almost killed me many times and I have lost a lot of important meetings and things in my life. Traffic jam may be more frustrating especially when you are driving a car than driving a motorbike. I have experienced it many times and it was a real frustrating thing.
