Sleep Apnoea, Do YOU have it? Could you MAYBE have it? What do you do?

This is for all the sleep apnoea sufferers out there in the world. DO you have sleep apnoea? do you snore? do you stop breathing whilst you sleep? Have you been treated? have you been to a sleep clinic? Do you have a CPAP (constant positive air pressure) machine that you use? How does this affect your life?, Can you for example drive? Can you operate machinery? What if any, are your restrictions? Here in NZ, after being seen by a neurologist, and having a sleep test at a sleep clinic, I was diagnosed with mild OSA (Obstructive sleep apnoea). After being diagnosed with OSA I was handed a CPAP machine and basically told "get used to it" Unacceptable as far as I'm concerned! My Drivers licence was suspended for ALL classes, and I was absolutely gutted! After passing the "requirements" of the sleep clinic and having my licence reinstated,I have since gone some 10 years without redress....I undergo a medical yearly as per the terms of my licence but apart from that..No probs. To me personally CPAPs a waste of time, ONLY because I get 1/ a regular amount of sleep, 2/ My Diet has changed to regulate my calorie intake. 3/ Whilst I still smoke, regular sleep periods and patterns have helped from my point of view, CPAP to me has been inefficient. The question for me is however, what do YOU do? are you a sleep apnoea sufferer? or do you suffer from a related condition? ARE you on CPAP? or do you choose to find your own way to deal with this illness? I personally tend to deal with Sleep apnoea as rubbish, thats my best description, and for me is the way to "carry on" as it were. For some its not that easy...come through, and tell us your stories..... What or which is it that YOU do?

I have apnea, but I don't use the cpap, the mask just gave me a migraine because of my shallow sinuses.

I sometimes feel so sleepy that I find myself dropping off to sleep at the wheel of my car. It can be a dangerous thing when one is driving. I stop a while and get a cold drink of soda. Cheers!!
