kids and computers

Do you let your children use the computer? How about the internet? My daughter just turned 3 and she's a whiz on that thing. We have a bunch of games for her to play and she's learned so much. She even turns if off and on by herself and finds all the games and videos she wants to watch. I think since computers will be such a huge part of the future, kids should start early.

welcome to mylot, hope you like it here like most of us do. my children are all teens and i let them use the computer but with supervision. if they are only going to play games then that is okay. use office for their reports then taht is fine. but to use the internet i make sure that i am supervising them. i am just a concern mom for there are a lot of things that happens with a teen while using the internet. they have their own profile at friendster (its like myspace) but still with my supervision and i even know all their passwords. i have four teens and as i concern mom i need to protect them.

I agree and I think it's great that you care so much about your kids. When I was a teen I did everything I could to be secretive.

yah i let my 4 yr old son use the computer. its usually our bonding time. we often visit. cartoon network and disney channel.
its a great thing coz he learning to use computers and the internet at such a young age. also teaching him the do's and dont's while using the pc and internet
is a must. so far so good he's following our do's and dont's : )

hello tuckerbabies, yes i let my children to use the computer because they can learn a lot from that. my daughter start using computer when she was 4 until now she learn a lot of things she used internet too but we control and see if what website shes opening.my son also 1 year and 10 months is use the computer too, he likes to play game with his dad he knows how to play his favorite is san andreas.:) computer is very helpful to my children there is a lot things you can learn from the computer.:)

I agree with you. My son can find things on the computer sometimes that I can't find. He can figure out how to program new cell phones, how to put a cd in for a game he wants to play. He started at a very young age too, about 3 or so. My niece is good on computers too and she just turned 4. They learn so fast and computers are going to be a huge part of their future, so why not give them a head start at home supervised. My son will go on the internet, but only to play club penguin and that is a disney hosted site. I remember when I was in school and all we had were the old apple computers that had the green screens with the green font. We have come a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG way since then!!!
