Hi all! I am a very prudent computer user who is always very careful with his PC. I make sure that my firewall and antivirus programmes are up-to-date, and I avoid harmful websites, such as warez and those that provide malicious software. However, I encountered this problem when I try to access my non-C drive hard disks. When I double-click to access the other hard disks or partitions, Windows says "resycled\boot.exe is not a valid Win32 application". Fortunately, I can still enter the other hard disks via Windows Explorer. This happened after I reformatted my C drive since my Windows XP has become sluggish (I usually reformat my PC every 6 or 12 months). Eventually I found out that the "resycled\boot.exe" issue was actually a worm. Fortunately it was just a low-risk worm. But, I was still annoyed since I regularly update my ZoneAlarm firewall and AVG antivirus regularly, but still this worm managed to infect my D, E, F, G, H and I drives, and it also infected my USB thumb drive and my laptop's D, E and F drives as well. I was lucky that removal of the virus was very easy. Now, I access Symantec and Trend Micro's online scanners to be sure. AVG is still very good, but it's unfortunate that some malware can pass through. Anybody else who has encountered this strange worm? How did you deal with it? How will we make our PCs immune to this? I think I'm gonna buy a copy of Norton Antivirus 2009 soon. I'm tired of AVG. Thanks in advance!
