Do you bleach your whites, or do you just wash them with detergant?
I haven't been bleaching my whites lately and it seems like the socks are getting dinjyer, and dinjyer. I was told that using bleach breaks down the fibers in your clothes and causes holes in them. So that is why I stopped using bleach.
So do you bleach your whites? How often do you use bleach?

I don't bleach my whites or much of anything unless utterly necessary. Though I do use it diluted to clean surfaces per my Dr as I got Staph a few yrs ago and that's what she recommended to clean with besides antibacterial soaps.
Plus I'm afraid to use it on my laundry. I tried to do some spots on DH"s t-shirt and let it dry before I attempted to wash it and it burned a hole thru his shirt...
Otherwise I just plain don't own anything that's "white" beyond socks or undies as it's a magnet for you to slop on! Dh doesn't want white t-shirts anymore because he slops on those too and they look awful within a few wearings.

no i don;t bleach my white clothes and sometimes i will put one item like we call blue in india and we will put it after washing clothes . for half bucket , i will put 2,3 spoons blue and dip the clothes in it and hang on a stand and put all them to dry in sundry . then the clothes will pure white . here for this item ,sun dry is important and we can get pure white clothes when we do with blue.
this blue is like a bleech only. but clothes won;t damage with it after so many washes also.

Hey tlb! Yes, bleach can really damage your clothes and cause
some nasty holes! My bf used too much a few weeks ago and
my new sweater came out with huge holes in it! He used way
too much bleach! I have never seen holes burned that size
in my life! If you only use a little tiny bit of bleach you
will be fine. I find that if you don't use any bleach your
white's will come out very dingy. So I use just a little bit
each time and that way you won't get holes or wear out the
clothes.

My husband uses bleach on our whites once in a while, but not every time. We buy cheap clothes though, so it doesn't matter a whole lot if we have to replace them in a year or two, but we've have most of our clothes for quite some time already. I think the products out there are getting better, too, so maybe we don't have to worry as much about the breaking down of fibers. Just make sure you follow the directions and don't poor the bleach directly onto the fabric.
