Should We Be Notified When Brands Change Their Recipe?

it drives me nuts because when ever i get to where i love a certain kind of chili (im super picky) they always change the ingredients or recipe somehow to make it go from awesome to something i cant even choke down!! same with stews and a lot of other things!! shoudlnt they say on the label "new etc"? some do and make a huge deal about changing or improving their recipe but a lot dont and you dont know till you go to eat it.. then you wonder if it is just a batch of it or your taste buds being off and then you try it again and still horrible!! and of course since i buy a few of everything i usually end up with a couple of cans i wont touch!! does this happen to other people too??

I know exactly how you feel. This has happened to me with fruit loops. I mean one day they are filled with natural goodness of unhealthy sugar and colors, and the next, they go all healthy on me. I mean I have nothing against health food, I love brown bread, but please at least let me know when you are about to cut down on the sugar and the food coloring. It totally changed everything, and I would have appreciated a warning of some sort before I bought the family size box all for myself.

Yeah, i could've done that, if I had some heads up, that they were going to go all healthy on me.

yes I think that companies should tell people when they change their recipes, I think it is only fair, you are expecting a certain taste and then you don't get it anymore.

Yes, we should. Not just for people with allergies either. There are something I don't want to eat and I would want to know if they were in a product that previously didn't contain those items.

No, it doesn't happen to me. because I am very weary about the ingrediants in foods I eat. I have to watch and avoid certain ingrediants. So, I tend to avoid alot of foods just because they might be in there. It is hard when I go out to eat to find something with out certain ingrediants. Right now I live in the southern USa. They like everything hot and spicy. It is hard to find things on a menu with it or pepper.

I used to love ketchup to bits and then a load of brands started taking the sugar out and adding sweeteners etc. or something and now I hate most ketchup! The only ones I like now are Heinz and Daddies.

I think they should because it affects people with allergies or intloernces like being unable to eat gluten or lactose. I've had it happen but if i cant tolerate the flavour i tend to either donate them to the food bank or pass them on to a family member who still likes it.
