If it was up to me, personally I would not buy an expensive guitar to begin! And I would also take someone with me that is familiar with the quality of guitars to buy one so that you would buy a good playable guitar that is not overpriced! At least to get the quality, that you are paying for! Some inexpensive guitars are not very playable, and some inexpensive guitars play almost as good as the expensive ones! Yes, you could buy an expensive guitar, but if the beginner changes his mind about learning to play the guitar, you will be out a lot of money!

Any kind of guitar will do as long as it will suit your convenience. Like how soft is it as you play within the fretboard. The most important thing in choosing a guitar is that how it sounds. You must listen carefully and choose a guitar that sounds best.

Hello, sherwin023. Is it an electric guitar or just a classical guitar? I will tell you one thing: I have been studying guitar for two years, and I do not think that the brand really plays a big hole. I have had one guitar that had an unknown brand and now I have a Washburn, which is a known brand. There is not too much difference. I can play normally in classical guitars when their brands are unknown. What really matters is that you must make sure it have nylon strings, for beginners, and that it is not broken. I know the word in Portuguese, but not in English... There usually may be a problem with guitars that you will not notice if you are not used to it. The arm of the guitar might not be correctly aligned, and the strings might also be set too high. You should buy it from a store and talk to the clerk to see if that is alright. But don't bother about buying an expensive one. It is the first one! Respectfully, Munhozmib.

The specifications should be count in when you are buying your first electric guitar but for first timer you should not really worried about the guitar specifications. The important parts for your first electric guitar would be the bridge. I recommended that try to find guitar with fixed bridge. This type of bridge is easy for beginners when changing the strings.
