I guess with everything going on in the economy people are just happy to get a few dollars to have spend. I think I will get happy if I made a few dollars too.

of course people get excited because earning online is a new thing to most people. =) Some have day jobs like you and earn online for fun or just as a pastime, while others are retired people, so of course it's something new and exciting to share to other people. ^_^

Well, for me, this is just fun money. I make my "real" money from my "real" job. But since I like to goof off on the internet in my spare time (as my stress-relief) I think it's kinda cool if I can get a little change out of it.

I don't know why people get so excited either. There was another discussion I spotted on the digest that this discussion came in on and someone was really amazed that their earnings had gone up by 9c, it made me chuckle. I earn over £20 in my "real" job so I don't really get excited by anything I earn online. I write online for my own amusement - i.e. it's a hobby for me, anything I get in the way of money for it is a bonus. I guess it might mean a lot to people who are at home all day and sitting on sites like myLot trying to earn money which I have no problems with. I guess we shouldn't make fun of people earning a few dollars or pounds here and there, it's not a lot to us but for example, in India, £1 is about 80 rupees which isn't something to be sniffed at...

I think it's the challenge, It certainly can't be the money. Most of us have tried so hard to earn a little and been scammed so often that when we do get paid we feel like we won the game. I know it doesn't make sense. We do it for entertainment.

Well my guess is since your here on this very forum you are looking to make a dollar as well. And judging by your rating you havn't been here long. Making a dollar is very satisfying when it's something extra. I always love doing something I love to do and making a little extra on the side. If you think of it this way if you make a dollar a day on this site or other sites you are essentially making 31 dollars a month now over a 4 month period you have close to 100 dollars (that's if you stay active and post meaningful topics and responses) so you have 100 dollars that started out from the measly dollar. It's something to work up to and it's a bonus to all of us as some extra cash on the side. I know that with my money Ill probably end up putting it towards a savings account for my future children. It's really not so bad when you come to think of it and in the end that 1 dollar really adds up. I think of that dollar as a change jar that many have. You put what 15 cents here 50 cents there but in the end when that jar is filled up you end up with a nice 'chunk' of change.
A pound for an hours work isn't bad when it something you'd do unpaid any ways. I talk on forums all the time and am apart of 2 others (unpaid) so why not get paid for shooting off with my mouth :) and giving and taking advice I'd seek on other forums. Not a bad trade off if you ask me :0

There are people who can't afford to go work because like they are plain housewives and they are at home to take care of their child. So, not all the time can a housewife has a work or chores at home. She also has a leisure time. So in order for her to use it she can use the internet, do something, I think earning a little will be great already additional income for the bills at home.

I have a pt job but it may be over in a week or two. It's hard to find a job that will work around my spouses hrs & we don't have childcare & can't afford daycare to say the least.
Every lil penny helps & if it pays for something I already do why not?

I think that it's because some people don't have a job for one reason or another. My husband and I are on disability, so earning even a little bit of money online is a big deal. Because even the small amounts of money help with household items that are necessities.

I really agree with you. I have yet to find sites that really pay alot. I work a couple survey sites that pay about $3 per survey, but I don't make enough to make even $100 per month. I would love to find something that will pay me anywhere from $100-500 per month. I'm a stay at home mom and that would be great for me. I'm not looking to make a serious income, but I don't have the time to work 40 hours a week to make pennys.

I know where you're coming from and I am surprised that nobody else seems to have noticed this yet! I mean, though, I understand why I get so excited. I've never had a job before, I'm still very young. I just decided to make a PayPal account one day and a few weeks later, all of a sudden I have generated free money without really changing my schedule. I have tried to get a part time job at a supermarket, but I don't think that I can get a job because there are so many adults who are losing their jobs who need those McDonald's and supermarket jobs much more. I don't really like to buy things a lot, either. So the amounts of money I am making online are sufficient for me. I mean, most of the Mylotters making 10 bucks a month or so, but that's 10 bucks more than they would make without it. Plus, it just feels good. Also, 2 dollars on the internet feels like more because you can get a lot of really cheap stuff on eBay.

Hi Sheepie. I have been reading your comments for several weeks now and find most of them interesting. I felt this one showed a high level of maturity especially because you felt it was not necessary to compete for a job with someone who needed it to support their family. The fact that you are content with your financial status is an inspiration. I don't usually think about the age or location of the people I meet here but since you brought it up I looked at your profile. Does that reflect your real age? If you keep the attitude and personality you project here you will succeed in life I am sure.

I wonder why too? It's not going to make them rich. Making a living on line just doesn't seem to exist. Spending money online is easy. Making it just dosen't seem likely.

Most of us frequent online communities and give our opinions and chat without being paid. The pay is a bonus. I am new here and don't really know much about what they pay you. I like the discussions here and the people seem nice so far, and it's something to do when my hubby is out of town. So I'm here and if I earn a little bit of money for my opinion, then so be it. I also blog for dollars if anyone wants to know about that they can send me a message.

When it comes to learning new things I usually don't have much trouble. Most of the time I just sit back and watch and pick it up that way. I guess I am what is called a fast study. It is a talent that I am grateful for. However, there are some things that take a little more effort to learn than just observing others. Although I have been trying to figure out what blogging is and how you can make money doing it I haven't been able to figure it out on my own. If you have some spare time and don't mind explaining this to me I would appreciate it. I have requested you as a friend so we can PM each other. I await your response.

Well, it is True that my job does pay me more than what I am earning online in a month, but anything extra I am earning in here is worth the time and effort as well. I earn around $50 a month usually from the 2 things I do counting here in myLot. For me, it is worth it to have this little bit of extra which helps buy things that I might not be able to afford otherwise, or help in times where I might need a little extra $$ for groceries, etc. as well.

I think it's a way to earn a few extra dollars when you can't work for some reason. For example if they are disabled. There are a lot of women here who are taking care of young children, and they don't work in an industry that pays well enough to cover their child-care so they are stuck at home.
Also I notice there are a lot of posters here from other countries. $6 may mean nothing in North American terms, but it could mean a lot to somebody posting from a country where the exchange rate with the US dollar is very high.

For me it is a way to earn a little extra while not having to commit to another job. I don't have to put in a certain amount of hours or commute to work or work somewhere I really don't want to or be away from my family. They are just in the next room and I am available to them at any time. I have a job, this is just extra for me, but for other people that may not have jobs and are from countries where maybe a dollar will go a long way. I have several sites that I work and it all adds up and the small checks I receive help with the groceries, gas etc. And besides all that I learn things from some of the surveys I do and from right here at myLot.

But this is fun to do here at MyLot (you are here doing it as well!), and you get a few cents for conversing with people on many different subject. Do you get paid when you are out with your friends having a discussion? We all enjoy putting our two cents in on subjects, I assume as that is why we are here, but getting a bit of money to do it as well, is cool. And a dollar or pound means a lot to my family! It is just amazing to get paid anything to just write a response or discussion, and that is why some people get excited for earning anything just doing something that really isn't work and doesn't feel like it.
