I have a very good friend who works in a medical field, I would say he is an excellent person to be with as a human being. But after a few incidents and accidents or tragedies came to his life, and he became very stressed and depressed, and it made him turn to a very different from the person he used to be. We were talking about things why and what causes him to become a very different person.
Later on we come up to some solutions that it might help to solve the matter. He knows that he became a different person than what he used to be. I suggested for him to go and see a psychiatrist, he wanted to but he said it might affect his future or present job. Because if the managers will know that he had been to a psychiatrist, obviously they will think that he is not mentally sound. Or might think he is not suitable for the job anymore or to work with people and look after the patients.
What would be the risk if he will go to a psychiatrist? And is it a good idea? Because I think he is really having a psychological issues and problems in his life.

Most people suffer from some type of mental illness in their life and it is nothing to be ashamed of,I would think his work have noticed he is not himself and would be very happy if he went for help after all it is a form of illness and can be cured. It is against the law to sack anyone who is sick well it is in England anyway.Afew tips get him to write everything he is feeling down on a piece of paper then throw it away when he is finished. He can write anything about anybody and if he throws it away no one will know and it really does help to get things out of your system and leave it behind.Go and see a film ,while he is watching it will distract him from his troubles and he will give himself a rest, excercise is also another good form of cleansing your self.He has had a terrible time and he needs to get rid of some baggage and move on.His job is in medicine somehow they might even get him councilling and be glad to help,if he works in the medical side they are probably waiting for him to go for help and they should understand.Try some of my suggestions I know they work, because I did this when my life was not so brilliant, and maybe a break away from everything even if it is just a long weekend and get away from the situation.take care.xx

Cheers for the great advice. Yes I will have to try to tell my friend about your suggestions and advice, surely it will help if he will follow or do it. He didn't tell anybody at work, but somebody have asked him if he is alright and even told him that she noticed that he is not the person that used to be when he first work in that place.

Hi lovelyvelle,
Is there a chance for him to just hide it from work?
He has to do this if ever he is really affected by whatever happened to him before or how about being active in social group or religious organization, in that way, it will help him get over and get back his real personality!

I think he should go and he doesn't have to tell his boss why he is going to see a psychiatrist, he is going to see a doctor.
Many companies encourage people to go and see psychiatrists or whom ever they need to see because it makes them become better employees on the job,
but as I said he doesn't have to tell them why he is seeing a doctor if he doesn't want to.

He is worried if the impressions of his employer might change and might find some faults so they can sack him especially nowadays recession is everywhere. And if he will apply for another job of course the employer will ask about the medical history and backgrounds, and put the details on the application form which still they will know it, if they will call his GP. I just don't really know about things like this even some rules and laws in this country.

I don't know what country he lives in but in canada and the usa, the doctors are not allowed to give out medical information about a patient, unless the patient knows and signs, and most employers don't because it is illegal and can be used to discriminate
the only thing a person has to divulge if is if he has a medical condition that would seriously prevent him from doing his job, like he wants to be a truck driver and he is blind,
he would not be able to do it,
but if he is just depressed that is not a reason not to divulge nor is it a reason that he cannot do his job.

What he is worried about if his managers will know that he will be under of the treatment by the psychiatrist it might affect on how they will deal with him and might find a way to sack him, like finding faults or other reasons. And if he will apply for another job and the manager who will interview him might see his records that he had been to a psychiatrist it might affect the impression and might be the cause that they won't like to accept him for a job.

What other way it could be? What do you mean? I just need advice or opinion about on this subject it's really a serious matter to me as I don't know what to do with this friend. I know he never tell his problem to anybody because he said he can't trust them especially when it will affect on his job, as he should be dealing with the patients.

Oh sorry I apologise, I was expecting it on the other one. It's confusing really. I wasn't very clear on what I said to you. Even me I got confused on my own posting just because of two posts in different subjects but ended up in four. Anyway, thanks for your help I contacted the mylot staff already and gave them the link to delete it, and I am waiting for the result, they haven't deleted it yesterday so they might do later. Thanks for your great help.

Maybe you and your friends can help him go out the psychological issues and problem. You can give him much warm, and let him know that he is not alone in the world, you always be with him;and let him know there are also many nice thing in the world.Have a try, maybe your friend will be out of the dark.
