The numbers in the stars are your mylot reputation -- it goes with the little (+) and (-) that are beside all the comments, and pictures and discussions. Other users rate you up (+) or down (-), according to the quality of your posts and contributions. Sometimes people misuse it and rate people down because they disagree with them. That's not the right way to use it.
A person with 1600 posts and no star is someone who either was a victim of a massive bunch of down rating attacks, like happened a lot to people during the US election campaigns, or they just really do give poor quality posts...
If you hover your mouse over the star, you will see a little pop up that says something like 77/100 -- that is what the number in your star stands for: your percentage of positive ratings.
I am about to post a new discussion on this, if you want to look it up.

Ah, I see. Wonderful explanation. I guess it helps to know if the person who comments, has a good rating or not. does it do anything to the amount of money you earn by posting?
Are there any other things like the star ranking to watch out for? i am new to the site so I am still learning about it all. I'm hoping it will be a good place to stay and enjoy. Also a place to make a little extra cash. Do any of you actually make any money from this site?

Hi Silverbeam,
I have read some in the terms of use and other explanations that make me believe the rating figures into earnings, but no one knows for sure, and a lot of people think it does not affect the earnings. It's a big unknown territory how the earnings are calculated.
Yes, people do make money here -- it is a legitimate site and they really do pay, and on time. However, most people just make a little. It takes quite a lot of posts to get to the payout minimum -- at least it did several months ago. I have not had very much time to be here lately, so I guess something may have changed.

You'll receive a star once you get to 100. You're almost there. As far as the people with 1600 posts and no star, I have no explanation on that one.
